Obsidian went over to her cozy cat bed to lie down. The other cats settled into their beds and quickly started chatting.
“What could ‘Darkness will rise’ mean?” Cream asked.
“Maybe it means gloom will rise.” Granite responded.
“Or shadows will rise.” Snow added.
“What if we are prophecy cats!” Sherbert shouted.
“Fat chance.” Snow replied.
“What about Obsidian? She has not shared her opinion yet.” Cream claimed.
Obsidian felt the pressure in her mind to share what she saw earlier that day. She opened her mouth to speak but her mind got in the way. What if they think I am crazy? But Obsidian just felt the pressure at that moment, so she spoke.
“Earlier today, when Smoke first walked into my first class. A vision flashed before my eyes.” Obsidian started to whisper. “A black cat with a purple fire that outlined him or her, who had dull green eyes covered up Smokes image.”
“Could it have something to do with the prophecy?” Asked Cream.
“I don’t know.” Obsidian whispered.
“But how is my brother involved in any of this?” Granite asked.
“I don’t know.” Whispered Obsidian.
“Attention all students! You have ten minutes until dinner time starts! Please make your way to the cafeteria now!” Kira’s voice spoke over the speakers.
The five cats made their way over to the cafeteria. When they got there, they got their dinner and ate their food in silence.
Why is my stomach acting up? Obsidian thought as her stomach started hurting. She felt something rising in her throat and trying to exit her body. She rushed to the bathroom sink and vomited up a ball of jet black fur.
Great. A furball. Obsidian thought sarcastically.
She went back to the cafeteria and continued eating in silence.336Please respect copyright.PENANAR9eTHvUDRo

A few mornings later, Obsidian was at breakfast, eating in silence again as the warning bell rang an annoying ring across the huge academy. Obsidian knew this was her que to go to class. So she recycled her food and headed to class.
Ugh! History! The most boring subject! She complained in her head.
But little did she know, today would be different. She would find answers today.336Please respect copyright.PENANAn0mReCy9pB

“Alright, class. Today we will learn the story of our founders.” Smoke claimed in his monotone voice.
Something interesting? Maybe. Obsidian thought.
Smoke yapped a long time about the personalities of each cat and other mumbo jumbo until finally something caught her attention. Smoke told them about how the four cats had received a prophecy that mentioned something about darkness will rise above all or something like that. That sounds similar to the prophecy me and the other new students received… Obsidian realized. Smoke went on about other random stuff until she caught another key piece of information. “Darkness and some other cats planted a bomb inside the school our protagonists were inside.” Smoke had claimed.
Smoke had continued giving more key information. Such as how this ‘Darkness’ figure killed Kira’s sister, Marshmallow. And what this antagonist looked like of course. Black cat, green eyes, and a purple fire outlining him, apparently. Is this the ‘Darkness’ the prophecy we got was referring to? Obsidian asked herself. After classes that day, Obsidian and the other first year cats were resting in their dorm room when Obsidian suddenly had a vision. Scribbly cave drawings of cats fighting other cats flashed in her mind. And the one that stood out most to her, was a cave drawing of a black cat with a purple fire outlining it. It looked a lot like the ‘Darkness’ figure they learned about in history that day. Obsidian felt a need for answers, ones she would not find here.336Please respect copyright.PENANAt7KvDuOA0Y

In power control class the next day, Kira had taken all the wind students on the roof to practice flying. Obsidian felt her stomach churn, today they would be jumping from deathly heights. If they did not fly, they would risk death.
“Obsidian! Your turn!” Kira called out.
Obsidian felt her stomach leap out of her body as she stepped towards the edge of the roof. She felt her legs bunch beneath her preparing for a leap she did not want to make. She felt the roof disappear beneath her as she leaped. She felt herself plummeting towards the ground as she fell. She felt the wind catch her a few seconds after leaping.
She was flying!
Obsidian doubled back towards the roof to go back inside. She felt solid ground beneath her feet as she climbed back down the stairs to the first floor. She felt a little more confident in her abilities now that she survived that leap. 336Please respect copyright.PENANAfgQvHRPK0C
