There, on the plush velvet kline sat the God of Love. He was a beautiful youth with hair that shone like threads of liquid gold and skin bronzed by the sun. His body was unmarred with scars and his muscles rippled like water as he moved. The boy was androgynous-looking with his pouty set of cherry-bitten lips and wide set of eyes that was dusted with thick eyelashes. His hair was threaded into a braided crown and loose tendrils curled around his cheekbones to frame his face.
A multitude of soft and hard bodies laid around him on the kline. Lords and Ladies in all States of undress as they languidly kissed one another and stroked bare skin. They were all handsome humans that died when they reached the peak of their beauty and Eros had a hobby of collecting lovely things. Still, despite the wide array of stunning beauty, the God of Love still stood out like a sore thumb with his immense perfection. Even with the glazed look in his eyes and parted lips emitting a trickle of drool, he was still charming. Still, the God was bored--rightfully so.
It was not fair, the youth thought, his brothers were free to peruse other dimensions for chaotic fun. Why did he have to spend an eternity trapped in the heavenly plane. He pouted deeply and his lovers around him swooned and made noises of adoration. Eros paid no attention to them.
"Mother?" Eros called, dismissing his various lovers with a flick of his hand. They slid off the kline, sending dazed looks of affection to each other.
"Yes, my dear?" A woman with half-hooded eyes and thick, plush lips stood in front of him. Her body was curvaceous and golden curls falling to hide the delicates under a wave. Porcelain skin was similarly unmarred lest for a light dusting of pink to offer a lively glow. She was the Mother and Goddess of Love itself, Aphrodite.
"I'm bored." The little Lord of Love drawled.
"Hm--what happened to your harem?" Aphrodite's voice was dreamy and soothing.
"It was fun for a little while but now, I'm bored." Eros puffed, his cheeks filling with air as his lips pushed out.
"My dear, don't pout, its unbecoming of a God. Have you been keeping up with your duties then?" Aphrodite raised an immaculate eyebrow as Eros retracted his pout quickly.
"Um--sort of?" He smiled sheepishly.
"This is why your brothers get to have fun. They complete their assignments while you been laze around on the kline all day." She sniffed delicately as Eros felt a warmth full his cheeks.
"I do my work! It's just--a lot." Eros motioned to the stack of paperwork piled in the corner of the room. It imitated a mountain with its height.
"Now, that's your own fault, sweetie." Aphrodite purred as Eros gulped. Aphrodite was known for her fury and wrath. It would do him little good to anger the Goddess of the passionate emotion.
"I-I'm just...tired." Eros muttered. Aphrodite maintained a mask of indifference before sighing lightly.
"Ares did say that I had a tendency to play favourites. Fine--stop with that sad look. I'll give you a field assignment." Eros's eyes lit up at her words and he made to kiss Aphrodite's knuckles in a gesture of gratitude.
"Thank you, Mother." He looked up to see a find but exasperated look in her baby blue eyes.
"You'll still have to finish your paperwork-" He groaned inwardly. "But I find that you'll enjoy this field assignment very much. I did." Aphrodite finished wistfully.
"So, what exactly is this field assignment then?"
"Oh--you'll find out. Au revoir." And with a wave of her hand, Eros disappeared.
