當年我看了「賽德克巴萊」之後大受感動。於是想要創作一系列以台灣歷史為背景的故事。由於很喜歡吸血鬼題材，於是就創造這個從歐洲移民到台灣的吸血鬼瑪蒂娜，見證台灣近代數百年悲哀歷史的故事。

這一篇《大肚王國記》是我自費出版《福爾摩沙血妖奇緣》的續集。《福爾摩沙血妖奇緣》講的是瑪蒂娜剛到臺灣時的故事，以荷蘭人與鄭成功的戰役作結束。這一篇《大肚王國記》講的是明鄭時期，臺灣原住民與東寧王國的戰爭故事。瑪蒂娜將在本故事與臺灣原住民合作，一起抵抗鄭氏東寧王國。
