Its dusk and Boone is approaching an unfamiliar town that he sees up ahead. About 400ft from the gate, three arrows with paper bombs are shot into the ground, the explosions startles and halt his horse. Trying not to fall off Boone regains control and balance. Still injured from getting shot yesterday Boone is only working with one arm. He grabs his revolver, and scans the area in the night but see's nothing. All of a sudden, an egg is then thrown on the ground in front of Perri and smoke is released, seconds later Boone is then confronted by three Shinobi one is an archer carrying a crossbow and quiver, another has twin swords and the final one is equipped with twin Chinese matchlock pistols. Words are exchanged between the ninjas and Boone, the ninja holding the matchlocks tells him to ID himself, but Boone keeps quite. The Shinobi holding the pistols looks at the other Shinobi carrying the twin swords and asks Boone again and tells him that if he doesn’t reply they’ll be forced to kill him by orders of their shogun. Perri does what they say and tells them his name; they then tell him to step off his stead and remove all weapons before he can enter the town. Perri refuses by firing at the Shinobi carrying the crossbow, but the Shinobi carrying the twin swords steps in front and slashes the bullets in half. Now mad the Shinobi surround him while he's still mounted on his horse. With a flaming arrow pointed in his face, two sharp swords at his neck and both pistols placed on his rib cages Perri realizes that he’s beat. He steps down from off his horse, and they rob Perri of all his possessions from his weapons to his backpack, only leaving his wagon and bike. They throw another smoke egg and the team disappears just before the smoke clears. Shocked over what just happened, Boone rides into the China town in hopes that he can find a hotel room at this time of night. He finds one and retires to the room for the night. The next day he explores the town in search of a doctor, after finding one and getting treated (this shows how drugs are used as medicine), he then roams the town (Perri’s arm is in a sling). He spends a few days getting a feel for his arm back and discovering events and places in the town like sumo wrestling and shops like blacksmiths, noddle shops, a restaurant, clothing venders such as silk, cotton and denim, tattoo parlors, a doctor’s office, hair cutter’s, saloons and opium establishments as well as an bay area for boats on the river. He finally finds a bar where he spends the rest of the day. Inside, Boone buys an eighth of weed (it shows that he is using silver coins) and orders a round of double shots of sake. Perri rolls a blunt (out of papers) and takes his shots and sits at the bar observing the place. While drinking in the bar, Perri over hears an elderly man tell stories of an Automaton (robot). As he begins to pay more attention to the man Perri asks him what is he talking about? The man hands Perri a piece of paper written on it is a passage from the Liezi text. Within the text is a shot story of how King Mu of Zhou encountered a robot. After reading the story the man tells Perri to keep it, Perri thanks him and asks him are there any Automatons still around? The man tells Perri that many others have been made, but they are very rare and only a few mortals have seen one he goes on to name other rare creatures like mermaids and jinn He goes on to say that only those who have been enlighten, illumined or deemed worthy to come across one. The man then begins to inform Perri on how the town was actually established. The elderly man explains how the emperor of China stopped the export of all opium and opium products such as medicine to other countries for trade and sell. Instead of growing the plant and producing the medicine themselves countries rely on China. This provoked a war, countries would start to hire pirates in the form of privateers to board the Chinese ships and steal all their cargo this included the opium, silk, tea, cannabis, rice and whatever else they could get their hands on. This then sparked a free for all on the open seas; many regular people would form pirate gangs and come after vessels as well. Trying to escape and find a more simple life many of the residents of China got up and left becoming refugees and settling in America forming Chinese colonies. Perri again thanks the man before leaving the table. (Time lapse of a day or so) A huge uproar is being caused next door at an Opium Den. Boone is sitting outside on the porch of the bar drinking weed tea waiting for his turn in chess and watching others play card games like Big Two etc., when he sees a samurai with a war hammer and a flag on his back (reppin his gang) and two ninja with matchlock rifles dressed in the flags color walk next door in the Opium Den. They enter the establishment pressing the owner, trying to extort his business for the Shogun (first gang that we see). The owner of the den refuse’s and the goons leave. An un-sober Perri asks the den owner if he’s alright and who those men were. A lady interrupts the owner and tells Perri that the Shogun is the Captain of the Pirate gang and they are the gov’t and enforcers of the town. Perri then says that two of them look familiar (talking about the ninjas) he then tells them about his experience the other night. The owner of the Den tells him that those were ninja/Shinobi that robbed him and explains what happened to him and how the shogun is a wanted man with a hefty bounty. He goes on to say how him and his gang of pirates robbed an Opium ship and sailed here to America to setup shop and found their little town after entering the Gulf and traveling up the river. The Shogun ordered all his samurais to take the entire town’s fire arms and weapons from the residents. Without firearms or weapons the townies can’t defend themselves and he was proclaimed a head of state. Later that night ninjas run thru the man’s Opium den destroying it from the inside, in the morning the Opium owner sees the damage done to his Den. Boone is passing by headed back to the bar when he sees the Den; he stops and asks the Opium owner what happened to his Den? The owner tells Perri that this was done by the Shogun’s gang. He goes on saying that he knew that the Shogun would strike, but he didn’t know that it would happen this soon. To restore order back two the town, Boone must get the guns back in the hands of the townies. To do that and get his stuff back, Perri has to break into the shoguns castle mansion that is a little way form the town. That night Perri puts on his black bandana and rides the bike to the castle mansion (typical Japanese style)(look of the first trap house invasion), he finds a tree and climbs a tree and scopes out the area before rushing in. He spots two guards outside the mansion walls, so he pulls out a blowgun given to him by the Opium Den owner. He tranquilizes both goons and drags them over to the tree and ties the men up. He then puts on the ninjas outfit and infiltrates the mansion. He roams the castle grounds going from room to room trying to locate the weapons stash. After a little while of searching he finally finds the room, he rushes in and puts all the weapons in a bag, grabs his stuff and escapes. He rides his bike back to the town and passes out the weapons. Now armed, the townies lead a revolt and raid the castle imprisoning the shogun and setting up a new chain of command. The next day the townies reward the man by throwing him a huge festival with fireworks and other traditional Chinese party stuff and giving him supplies for his journey like a wok, recipes for using weed. The Den owner presents Perri with a Tanto, a compass, tea bags, and Chinese armor for his journey. The next morning Perri sets off west towards another town.
