Tonight, I watched her take a seat in the living room again, her eyes fixated on the static screen on the TV. Was she sad? I took a step backwards when she suddenly stood up, mumbling to herself. She kept asking, "Where are you?" She began to pace back and forth from the window to the front door; in and out of the bedroom and the bathroom. I stood still, waiting for her to return to the couch where she had always stayed. The faulty light in the hall flickered above her head while she stood underneath it, mumbling to herself once again, "You're not here," she said, "I'm losing my fucking mind." She threw her head back as she cackled. Her eyes focused on me, they were dull and empty. I held my breath, fearing she would approach me. She pointed a crooked finger at me with a deranged expression. "I see you." She giggled before stomping towards me. "I found you!" She sang proudly. I ran to the balcony where I could use the fire escape to run to safety. She chased after me as I ran barefoot in my pajamas through the streets. I noticed a group of people huddled together in the middle of the sidewalk, "Help me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, not daring to look back like they did in the movies. They turned and glanced at me in annoyance for having interrupted their conversation before ignoring me entirely. I stupidly crossed the busy street to run into the convenience store just a few feet away. I forced myself to look behind me at the lady chasing me, she had stopped at the edge of the sidewalk. I came to an abrupt stop to laugh victoriously at the lady before a taxi threw me into the air. I landed on the ground with a loud thud. I looked at the lady as the taxi driver sped away. The group of people whipped out their phones to record what had happened while everyone gathered around me in hesitation. The lady smirked while pointing her crooked finger at me, she stood their as I felt my life leave my body. Why did they do this to me? I smiled weakly as my eyes fully closed and I no longer felt the beat of my heart. "This is man." I felt her cold lips brush against my ear before I had succumbed to my pitiful death.
