She listened to the fighting day after day,

one day, it became too much,

and she decided to sneak away.

Tip-toeing through the house,

quiet as a mouse.

She could not disturb them,

Once she was far away,

she found a place to lay.

Underneath a willow tree,

that seemed as old and wise as could be.

By a pond, quiet, serene,

where she could be safe from the screams,

for this tree,

was her safe haven.
