Being alone for most of your life isn't something to expect, but it happens to some of us. Names are just labels, so I won't use mine. Even if I told you, it wouldn't be of any use to you. In reality, I don't even remember my name. Hehe.
Back onto the topic, I don't remember how I got here, in this white room. All I do remember, however, is my parents abandoning me at the age of 5. I remember all the tests being run and all the procedures being done on my body. I have stage 4 osteosarcoma and I haven't been able to be cured. I honestly think I won't be cured. I'm going to die here.
I don't talk anymore, so this is being written down in a notebook that I keep. There is no reason for me to talk. I'm stuck in a bed, unable to get out on my own. Plus, I'm stuck to fluids, oxygen, and monitors. I don't think it's that bad, but then again I don't know about the outside world and what it holds.
All of a sudden, the head doctor comes into my room. "EVA4971. We are going to have to pull the plug on your support. You don't have long to live, maybe 2 hours tops. I'm sorry we can't do anything else for you. Your body rejecting the treatment it gets and stage 4 it's too far up to continue your research." he says. I nod my head in confirmation and he leaves, letting me stare at the wall in front of my vision. I am going to die soon and I can't do anything about it. Oh well, it's not like I could, to begin with. I could hear the bickering of two people in front of my room. Saying something about something illegal?
"This has gone on for far too long. I will make sure you and your men are arrested for experimenting on an ambassador's child." One says.
"She's going to die in a few hours anyway. You have no evidence, even if you did, she wouldn't rat me out." the other replies. Are they talking about me?
"Why wouldn't she?"
"She's mute." My eyes widen in shock. They were talking about me?! I didn't know this was illegal and I want to get out of here. I know there's no chance of me getting out of here, but I wish there was a world with less violent people and not so strict laws. I haven't used my vocal cords in years, and I don't intend to, so that means I have to get some kind of attention drawn to me.
I struggle to get up from my bed and try making my way to the door. As I walk, my legs start to give out. I grab onto something but it's not sturdy and I fall with a thud. The two voices stop and the owners of them come running into the room. The first one picks me up and sets me on the bed. The second one just looks at me with anger. I can feel his rage pour onto me in waves and I shudder in fear. The edges of my vision start to fade. I put my hand up to the first person and caress his cheek. I know by looking at him and feeling my body inside his arms, that he's my uncle. My mother's brother.
As I see him for the last time, my lungs start to collapse on me and my body turns cold. I don't know how I knew I died, I just did.
