The opposite of green fingers is black thumbs, according to my ex. Everybody in my family knows which of these I am, every pot plant I have had has died until you came along little cactus, and even you are looking droopy. I even managed to kill off a ‘mother-in-law’s tongue’ plant which are supposed to be infallible. Mum gave you to me for Christmas, hoping she had found something green that would survive my attentions. She died at Easter, so please stay alive to help me remember her. Mum never gave up trying to make me horticulturally adequate and this is my last chance to fulfil her hopes. Don’t let me down little spiky plant. Please perk up and live.
