Last week,  Charles joined the race at the request of Abigail. Abigail lives in a luxurious house with a complete family  while Charles is just an orphan. Days have passed, arriving at the running tracks, the crowd was chattering away. All the competitors prepared themselves on the starting line. Just when the gun went off, someone’s elbow crashed into Charles’s ribs and winded him, he got up but was straight away shoved onto the muddy ground. He felt exhausted, but a mixture of pain and determination got him up to his feet. Charles’s legs were numb and felt as though they were going to fall off. He looked ahead and the leaders were already out of sight. Suddenly there was a crashing sound in front of Charles. There was screaming and swearing as his short legs zig zagged around a massive pile of waving arms and legs sliding in a mud patch. Amazingly, he was in fourth position. Then the miracle happened, The front runner stopped and was gasping for air, which knocked over the second runner. He slipped sideways and the third runner crashed in to him. Charles was like the only one still running.

The finishing line was just ahead, he was going to win! The crowd was cheering for Charles! He felt so persevered and unbeatable. Unexpectedly, Charles collapsed to the ground. His outstretched hand was millimeters from the finishing line. He thought he was going to lose! The other competitors thundered up and Charles lunged under the tape, as the crowd gasped. Then the other runners trampled over him.  Afterwards he lay flat on the ground, gasping for air, bloody and bruised. Charles gave out a smile. He had won and it wasn’t a dream. That was the first time he had to run 27,5 miles to complete it.

In summary, Charles was brave child. This experience made him more appreciated by his friends and teacher. Even though Charles was mocked by Abigail he still forgave him.
