Emily’s P. O. V:
The next day, Carrie put in a lot of effort trying to look her best. I knew more than well what it was for so I did not back away either. In the end both of us ended up dressing in figure-hugging clothes.
The first half of the day went by in a blur. By the last hour, almost all eyes were on me and Carrie. We were practically swarmed by guys, from the middle school students to the male teachers. I began to regret my childish act a lot. Some of the men even bought me and Carrie roses. Some of them who knew me well that I wouldn’t accept them went chasing behind Carrie.
The other female teachers proved to be a worse nightmare. Some even skipped their classes to ask me about makeup techniques! They were all like fashion-crazed teenagers; asking which lip gloss was the best, which eye colour would suit them. Not to mention, some of them were the ones who usually detested me because the principal favoured me. I was surprised at how quickly they could change themselves to get something they wanted.
It was after class was over when I was summoned by Mr Gerald. As soon as I went inside the office, he started shouting at me, pointing to my clothes, “Do you think this is some modelling industry? Just look at you. It is because of you, that foreigner is dressing as if it is her home. Do you have any idea about how much even I respect you? I’ve personally mentioned you in many staff meetings, urging other teachers to be good, disciplined, caring and efficient like you and reminding them that you can manage your work so effectively even though this is your first year as a teacher. I feel betrayed. Another day of behaviour like this will earn you a week of suspension. Now get out!” he shouted without giving me a second to explain. Well, it was not that I had some reasonable explanation either. There was no way I could say, “I dressed like this to get Jason’s attention.” No, not at all.
After school was over, I saw Carrie talking to Jason. I pretended to walk towards my car, oblivious to their presence but was actually listening to their conversation. She was asking Jason to show her around the neighbourhood. Jason hesitated for a while but finally gave in. They went and I instinctively followed them.
Carrie’s P. O. V:
Jason was easy just as I thought. I knew that he was eighteen, in the age group when the hormones often ruled out logic. He hesitated to show me around at first citing that I could ask Emily to do so. So I looked at him with sorrowful eyes and said, “You know that Emily is out for my blood. How can I ask her to show me around?” Of course all that was a lie because Kate had already familiarized me with the town.
He nodded and said, “Yeah, it’s not like you can just walk up to her and ask her to show you around. Since it’s a fair deal, I’ll help you.” I tried my best to hide my smile of success as we started walking. He stopped abruptly with a look of realisation. Had he seen through my plan that easily? He turned to me and said, “Hey, you have another sister right? You can ask her.” I frantically started groping every corner of my mind to come up with a believable excuse as Jason was obviously a clever guy.
I summoned the sorrowful eyes once again and said, “Well, you see, I did ask her first but as you probably know, she has to do all the house work. Emily is a complete failure when it comes to house chores. So Kate is busy almost right from the time she enters the house after finishing work at her office.”
That little story of mine worked like a little charm. Jason agreed and we continued walking signalling the success of my plan. Just to make sure that he didn’t get suspicious, I made him show around some of the places I had been to already. He eased up after a little while and I knew it was time to go to the next level. We walked on and on and I finally succeeded in luring him to the beach.
Jason’s P. O. V:
Carrie and I ended up on the beach which I didn’t want. She was really trying to seduce me. I couldn’t handle it anymore. The only person I had eyes for was Ms Emily. So I faked a wicked grin and tugged at her shirt and said, “Let me see what your body looks like in the evening sun.” Of course it was only to scare her which seemed to be working because she asked, “What do you mean?”
“Oh you know what I mean” I said faking even more naughtiness, pretending to lick my lips. The scared look on her face grew.
“Jason. Look; whatever you wanna do, I’m not gonna say no but please, not here not in front of all these people okay?”
“Nah-uh. You wanted the animal, you’ve got it,” I said inching closer to her. She was trying very hard to hide her fear.
“Jason, please. Please, not here. Let’s go somewhere else. If we get caught by someone I know, then I’m doomed,” she said.
“Then you should have thought about that before walking so close to me. I almost feel like kissing your tongue out,” I said maintaining my dark look.
“Jason, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen. I just wanna go home now. Please, let’s go back,” she begged.
“Okay, okay I was just kidding. But next time you try to tempt me, I won’t leave it at this.” I said and turned around and started to walk away.
At that she became angry. “Now for playing that trick on me, I’m gonna give you a punishment” she said and without notice, pulled me to her and impaled my lips with hers. If I wasn’t interested in Ms Emily, it would have felt great but now I felt disgusted. I pushed her away but not before someone slapped me from behind. I thought it was dad but instead it was a tearful Ms Emily. She asked, “Did it feel good? Is that all I’m worth?” I started to explain but she stopped me and said, “Save your lies for someone who believes you,” and went away.
Emily’s P. O. V:
What was there for Jason to show around in the beach? Suddenly, Jason tugged at Carrie’s shirt with a wicked smile. He talked with such an evil grin plastered to his face. How could he do that to me so easily? So that was his true self all along! I thought he was a good person but in the end, he was just like the other bad guys. Then he turned away from her and started to walk away. Carrie called him and said something to him and then gave him a long kiss!
That was when I couldn’t control myself any longer. The mixed feelings started giving a sick feeling in my stomach. My vision started blurring and I felt a pretty rare tingly feeling in my cheeks. I went up to Jason who seemed to be spellbound and slapped him hard from behind him.
Through the tears I tried my best to smile and asked, “Did it feel good? Is that all I’m worth?” He opened his mouth to say something but I stopped him and said, “Save your lies for someone who believes you,” and left.
General advice: If you’re angry, stay away from the road.
Well, I didn’t follow that rule and ran with my eyes shut bumping into many a person in the process. Finally I landed in the middle of the road.
Yay!
WHAT?!
Bam!
I was knocked down. Luckily, the car was going slowly and I only had a sprained ankle and a few scratches. However I could not walk out of the hospital properly. Seeing that, the car driver took me in his car and dropped me at the apartment.
Jason’s P. O. V:
“Are you really going to stay outside till she comes?” whined Carrie. “Yes. She deserves an apology and an explanation,” I replied.
“Come on dude! She’s probably just walking too slowly by the highway listening to Adele’s ‘Rolling in the deep’ like they portray in those overly dramatic films. She’ll be fine. At least let’s wait inside. It’s getting too cold out here,” she complained, shivering.
“Then you go in. It’s not like I wanted all of this to happen and it’s definitely not like I want you to stay here. You know what? You’re so immature and childish. I’m actually surprised that you hold a position as a teacher,” I retorted.
“Whatever. I’m gonna go inside,” she said and went inside but soon came out grumbling and started climbing up the stairs on the side. Then it struck me. The elevator was out of order.
Serves you right I thought, grinning.
A car came; rather fast must I say, screeched to a halt and stopped at the entrance and out of it came Ms Emily limping badly.
Emily’s P. O. V:
I hoped Jason wouldn’t see me limping like this.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
In front of me stood Jason, wide-eyed in shock looking at the bandage on my leg.
“What happened?” he asked.
“Pfft. It is none of your concern,” I snapped.
“Okay” he said and turned away.
Is that all? Well, alright. I went to the elevator and pushed the button.
No response.
Great.
“You broke the elevator on purpose,” I said absent-mindedly and realised my stupid accusation a bit too late.
“Say something that makes sense please,” retorted Jason.
How am I gonna go up?
Whoosh. Whoa!!!
There. I was in the arms of Jason. “Put me down,” I ordered which seemed to fall on deaf ears. He carried me all the way, five floors on the stairs to my house.
“Don’t you dare think that you’ve been forgiven. I can’t believe that I was stupid enough to think that you were one of those honest guys,” I said angrily, still in his arms.
We reached my floor and he did not let me down there but continued to carry me till we reached my door. He then set me down very carefully and said, “Consider this as my apology for the mistake I never committed. It was Ms Caroline who forced the kiss on me, ask her if you want,” he said and left for his house without another word.
“What happened?” asked both Carrie and Kate in unison as I entered the house. “I was knocked down by a car, my bad,” I said. Carrie went to my room with a hint of guilt on her face while Kate spent half an hour reprimanding me for being so careless. I went to sleep soon after that thanks to the pain killing pills I was given at the hospital.
A/N: Well that's a pretty long chapter, isn't it? Now that the playful fight between the half-sisters has culminated into something bigger, what's gonna happen between them? We'll see in the next issue. :)
