Molly came crying into her sister's room.
"Minni, I... I ca-can't do this... this homework!" she complained, too troubled with her fit to be able to speak.
"Ugh, what is it now, Molly?" the older sister groaned. She did not want to waste time doing her sister's homework when she has a science project due the next morning.
"Puh... p-please, Minni, I d-don't know how to do this..."
"Stop crying, you big baby. Come over here." Minni let Molly sit on the edge of her bed, using her sweater's sleeve to wipe the tears off of her little sister's cheeks.
"This." Molly held up a piece of paper with different shapes on it. At the top, it read: Identify the polygons based on how many sides they have.
"Wh... what? You don't know how to do this?" She almost burst out laughing.
Molly shook her head, a few more tears forming.
"Whoa, whoa, okay... look, it's easy. Just... okay. So three sides is triangle. 'Tri' means three. Four is quadrila― er, square. Five is pentagon, 'penta' meaning five. Then hexagon for six. And on. Okay? Not difficult."
"But... how do I remember?"
"Well..." Then Minni grabbed an idea! She hopped over to her bookbag and fished out a small baggy full of cookies. After grabbing her knife in her dresser, she sat back down with Molly.
"Here," she continued, "If you can tell me what shapes these are, then you get them. If not, then you get to watch me eat them."
"Okay!" Molly bounced where she sat.
"Alright." Minni cut one of the round cookies into a three-sided shape. "What's this?"
"Triangle! Three sides!"
"Yeah. Here you go." She handed the treat to her sister, preparing the next with five sides. "This one?"
"Square!"
"Nope. It has five sides."
"But... you said it was triangle, square, pennygon..."
"Pentagon, and a square has four sides! A pentagon has five."
"Pentagon!"
"Ugh. Fine, here." Another cookie handed. Now a four-sided one was formed.
"Square!"
"There you go! Kid: 3. Tutor: 0."
This went on for a while. A shaped cookie, an answer, and a little munch, then all over again. After the learning session, Minni decided she better get to her project.
"Don't forget what you learned tonight," she informed her younger sister, "Okay?"
"Okay!" the little one replied.
"Now shoo, I have a project to do."
"Goodnight, Minni!"
"... Goodnight, Molly."
After Molly left the room, Minni returned to her project.
Another boring school day passed, Minni falls onto her bed, exhausted. She was about to fall asleep, until she heard a little voice getting closer and closer to her room.
"Minni!" Molly exclaimed, "I did it right! I didn't forget any of the shapes!"
"Wha? ... Oh, good for you. Now scram, I'm tired..."
"It's all thanks to you!" Molly jumped onto the bed to accompany her sister in a biiiiig hug. "Thank you!"
"Oh... uh. Yeah." Minni awkwardly returned the hug, a funny smile on her face. "Yeah. No problem. That's what family's for, huh?"
"I'm going to go do more homework! Have a good nap-time!" Molly quickly skipped out of the room, beaming with a jolly nature.
"Well, do good on that homework, kid."
Minni decided to work on her own homework. She was in too good of a mood to nap.
