That was weird. Why was Darcy so rude to me. This isn't the first time she met me, why did she think my name was Brittany? Maybe I mumble when I say my name and she thought I said Brittany so when I corrected her, maybe she felt offended. I should apologize to her. After all, she is Aiden's friend.
After deciding to apologize, I started to look for Aiden. He told me he had to go find his mom and that he'd be back but that was five minutes ago.
"Bambi!"
I turned my head quickly at the little voice that called my name and smiled at her cute little figure. She was all dressed up in a pretty green dress and black flats.
"Happy birthday, Hazel!" I greeted her as she wraps her tiny arms around my waist.
"I'm so happy you came. I was scared you wouldn't since you said you would try. When my daddy says that, he never shows up.
Sadness builds up in my chest at her words. Why would get dad not want to see her? She's amazing if you ask me.
" I thought your party would've been earlier today and unfortunately I had other things I had to do but luckily your party ended up later than I thought." I smile at her.
She smiles back. "Aiden's lucky to have found a girl like you. Besides Darcy, I've never seen him hang out with girls more than a day. So you must be very special to him."
I laugh uncomfortably before shaking my head. "We're friends. That doesn't make me special. Don't you think Darcy is special to him if he hangs out with her? It's the same thing. They are friends, too."
She rolls her eyes before leaning closer. "Can I tell you a secret?"
I lean down to her level. "Of course."
She looks back and forth before looking back at me. "I think that Darcy is just plain crazy."
"Why do you think that?" I ask her.
"The other day, I heard her talking to herself about stopping someone from breaking some kind of curse. That's weird, right?" Hazel says with her face scrunched up.
I nod in agreement. "That is weird. But, we shouldn't talk bad about people, okay?"
She nods. "Okay. Let's go play on the trampoline!"

Hazel and I jumped on the trampoline for a little while with a few other kids around her age. They all had a blast but I decided to get down when I realized I still haven't seen Aiden.
I assure Hazel that I wasnt leaving before I started looking for Aiden again. His mom walks out of the house and I walk over to her.
"Hi, Mrs. parker.."
"Oh, please, sweety, call me Sarah." She corrects me.
I nod, "Sarah, have you seen Aiden?"
She smiles with a nod before glancing back at the door. "He's in the kitchen making sandwiches for the little ones. Why don't you go give him a hand."
She tells me how to get to the kitchen and I follow her directions. I stop as I hear Darcy speaking.
"I don't understand why she's still around. I've seen you with a lot of girls when I first met you but I never seen them around more than a day. What's so special about this one?" Darcy asks, my guess, Aiden.
I try not to eavesdrop so I start to walk toward the kitchen again.
"She's cool, Darcy. You'd like her if you got to know her." Aiden tells her.
It's silent for a second before she asks. "Do you like her?"
It got quiet after that and I could see Aiden's back and Darcy looking up at him. As I'm about to walk into the kitchen, I see Darcy grab his hands.
I'm not sure if either of them heard me come into the kitchen but the next thing that was said and done, broke my heart into pieces.
"I need to tell you, Aiden, that I love you with everything in me. I'm here. You know my feelings for you, now. She can never love you. But, I can and I will."
I couldn't see Aiden's face to see his reaction but I'm guessing he was happy to hear it because the next thing I know, she wraps her arms around his neck and stands on her tip toes before pulling him into a kiss.
My eyes widen and I take a step back, accidentally hitting the wall, knocking a picture down. The glass breaks causing them both to look over at me.
"I'm sorry I interrupted. Your mom thought you might need some help but you seem to have everything under control so I'm gonna.." I jab my thumb behind me. "Go."
I turn around quickly. Embarrassed that I walked into that and hurt that he didn't tell her he liked me. I don't know why I'm so hurt about it when I already figured he didn't, but also because I thought maybe one day he would because he said he didn't like Darcy in that way.
He seemed to like her when she kissed him which means that he lied to me. He could've just told me. Yes, it would've hurt but at least then, I could've prepared myself for the heartbreak of him being with her. Maybe he just felt sorry for me. Maybe he knows that I like him so he didn't want to hurt my feelings.
Either way, I'm hurt. I thought we were friends. I guess I was wrong. After tonight, I will never talk to Aiden again. I have to find true love in order to break this curse and Aiden isn't the one I'm supposed to be looking for. He's meant to be with Darcy. And maybe I'm meant for someone else. Or maybe, I'm meant to be a mermaid for the rest of my life.
I'm not sure.
What I do know, is that I should leave. So I find Hazel and tell her that I have to go and I hope to see her soon. Of course I had to lie and tell her an emergency came up and asked her to tell Aiden the same thing I told her if he were to ask.
She gave me a hug with her agreement and I left. I followed the GPS thing on the phone to find the beach then walked into the house with the spare key at the back door.
I packed only a few outfits, some underwear, a few books, and of course, a book light that Aiden bought me just in case I wanted to read while he was asleep.
I set the phone on the nightstand beside the bed and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. I write:
Thank you, Aiden, for being there for me when I needed you. Now, its time that I find my own way. Maybe, I'll fall in love and break this curse before my eighteenth birthday and maybe I won't and I'll be stuck as a mermaid for the rest of my life. I've accepted it. Its okay. I appreciate you trying to help me but now you have Darcy and I don't want to get in the way of that. I'm happy for you, really. Its okay, I'm not mad that you lied to me. I guess you just didn't want to hurt my feelings but honestly it hurt worse for you to lie. Telling you that for future reference. I'm sorry for being a bother. I'm only taking a few things. I know you bought them but I hope that you're okay with it. Have a nice life, Aiden. -Bambina
After sitting the note on top of my phone, I grab the stuff I'm taking and leave.
