"Mom," I said, slightly tilting my head to look into my mother's green eyes. "Yes?" I pointed at two men in black robes walking towards us and said, "Who are they?" She looked at who I was pointing at and gasped, smiling. "Well, they are the people who will bring you to your birthday present." I squinted at the intimidating men, "Mom, I turned thirteen yesterday." Her smile faded away, as the men neared us, "I know hunny, I know." The men finally reached us and smiled at my mom. "Thank you, ma'am. She'll be well taken care of, and we will be sure her magick grows." I blinked, "What?! Magick- but-" It was easy to connect the dots now. They were taking me to the Enchanter Palace, where I will be tested and placed... Either with Fire, Earth, Healing, Water, or Spirit mages (which is the most powerful.) "Come with us Daphora." I quickly embraced my mom, knowing that I had no choice but to leave with the men and that I may not see her again for a long time.

The High Healer, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air Mages all sat on small thrones against the right and left wall. In front of me, was the High Enchanter, a Spirit Mage, in a large silver throne. He wore black robes and held a thick metal staff with a dark purple sphere on top. The High Enchanter had dark purple- nearly black- short, neat, trimmed hair. His eyes were silver with a hint of purple, shimmering in them. The High Enchanter was obviously very strong, which made sense since the staff looked heavy, and he carried a sword.
Then his rough voice echoed in the room, "You're Daphora Mohave?" I nodded, quickly bowing my head, "Yes sir."
"Come here." I looked up, slightly, and walked to him. He leaned forward, and lifted my chin, looking right into my eyes. "Have you ever used magick?" I shrugged, "Occasionally." He drew in a breath, simply studying me. "Selva!"
An elven woman, rose from a lavender throne, her dress and cloak flowing well with her figure. "Yes, Soran?" The High Enchanter's head snapped to the side to look at her, revealing that he too was an Elf, "Watch your mouth! Now, gather the Mages." She bowed her head, "Yes, High Enchanter. Forgive me." Then she left.
"I swear that girl thinks she's the High Enchanter, and I'm just a new Mage," He huffed, facing me once more, "And now we wait."

Soon all Mages filled the Throne Room. The High Enchanter took my hand, and lead me to the center of the crowd. He knelt down, a slight smile on his face, "Close your eyes." I did so and began to feel fuzzy inside. I felt his thumb, pressing against the center of my forehead, then a rush of energy. The sounds of gasps and whispers filled my ears. "Open," He said removing his finger. I did and gasped.
No one was in the room. Everything was pitch black. "Hello? Is anyone there? Where am I?!"

"I'm here!" I spun around to see my faceless, supposedly dead, father. He had vanished a long time ago, never to be seen or heard from again. I barely remember seeing him looking down at me when I was a firstborn. I can only see him as a faceless, strong, dark-haired man. "I'm herrre. I'm-" A piercing screech escaped him, as he suddenly slapped me. I fell to the ground, automatically throwing out a hand. Suddenly purple light engulfed him, then vanished, leaving nothing behind. I began to feel exhausted, just as the darkness faded away and the High Enchanter came into view. "Spirit," He whispered. Then all went black.
