A tree stands, tall and proud

Cloaked in needles

Of soft green

It grows as years go by.

One day a family comes

dressed in warm clothing.

"They run around so happily,"

Thinks the tree.

One little girl runs

She looks up and shouts,

"I found one!"

The father brings a saw

That cuts away the trunk of the tree.

Slowly, the tree leans

and finally falls.

The family bundles the tree

Up in a tarp

And ties it to

They wrap them and hang them

A tree stands, decorated and beautiful

On Christmas Day

the family gathers around the tree

with presents at its base.
