伴隨著花京院、阿布德爾、伊奇的犧牲，承太郎與埃及遠征隊擊敗了DIO。DIO的肉體已經在太陽之下化成了灰燼，喬斯達一族與DIO長年的恩怨也終於告一段落，然而DIO在世界各地遊歷時所留下的影響仍然深遠。


DIO在各地感化為他效力的替身使者數量仍然難以準確掌握，DIO死後，這些替身使者有洗心革面的，有暗中潛伏著的，也有公然運用替身能力作奸犯科的。剩餘三人的埃及遠征隊自然不可能將他們一一揪出，這個任務也就落在了SPW財團身上，為此而生的就是SPW財團所屬的替身使者團隊：探尋騎士。
