Just a dime store poet
Keeping pace, talking his face blue
The night was young, and filled with stars. The mansion was glowing, decorated with lanterns strung along the windows and winding up the trees keeping watch over the white pebble road littered with carriages and guests making their way to the masked ball. A particular couple entered the mansion, an incredibly tall, dark-haired man with eyes crimson and a wolfish look dressed in crisp black suit and red under-shirt. The girl at his arm wore a dress inspired by autumn, a copper and orange fused dress that trailed in the snow, the leaf-edged pauldrons on her shoulders showering holograms of miniature, orange and amber leaves fluttering down in her wake. Her tawny, brown-blonde hair was curled, drawn up into a high-bun, the strands trawling down the back of her neck and twisting down her temples. Before they stepped into the gold ornate ballroom, the two exchanged a sharp glance between crimson and emerald eyes, and put on their masks of a black wolf and copper owl.
Two dollar store tramps

The two strolled into the ball, the floor filled with dancing couples, dressed in suits of black, grey, brown, stripped and plain, dresses of silk and velveteen, leather and cotton, fluttering and making them appear as if they were gliding across the dance-floor in the popular colors of gold and white, all their faces guised by masks of animals or fairy tale creatures. Those guests lingering amongst the granite pillars glanced their way, taking a long draught of their untouched drinks from colored glasses. Some watched them with a fearful, nervous look, others suspicious, some entertained and others simply curious.
Walk past the dance floor

A waiter brushed past them, and offered a drink, which they gladly took.
“Ace?” The girl said, tugging at his sleeve.
“Jenny,” Ace replied, taking a sip of the drink.
“What’s the plan?” She asked, almost nervous, the glittering drawings of ferns and leaves drawn up her freckled face, those particular freckles mostly covered with alabaster makeup.
Ace motioned to the young, almost nervous looking man with curled brown hair dressed in a military style red tunic, standing by himself and looking as if he didn’t know what quite to do with himself.
“Seduce him. Lead him up to one of the offices up there. Have some fun, kill him then gather the papers from lord Remington in the desk,” Ace said all casual like, downing the rest of his drink.
“Seduce him?” Jenny hissed, staring out into the dance, refusing to make eye contact or even look at the young lord.
“Yes. I hope it’s not too much of a foreign concept from you. If you’d rather, I could always do it,” Ace smirked, reminding her of a real, rabid wolf baring its fangs.
Her only reply was to down her drink in a single stretch.
Cuckolds and concubines
Dancing in four, four time
Ace watched his young pupil approach her prey with all the confidence in the world, striding about in the ridiculous dress with feline grace.
The young lord seemed almost alarmed, but she smiled so sweetly.
He clearly couldn’t help but smile shyly in return. She twirled a strand of hair in her long fingers and cocked her head, listening to him awkwardly arrange his words.
She laughed at every joke, no matter how un-funny, showing off her white smile.
Then, after a few drinks, he whispered drunkenly in her ear and she took him by the hand, completely sober despite her fake stagger and consistent giggling as they snuck away upstairs.
“Good luck, chick,” Ace said underneath his breath.
“Hey, mister,” the bellman says. “I can only recall and spend some time," I said”
So he replies, “Then how do you manage?”
Ace ordered a drink happily examining the bartender.
Jenny pushed the young lord onto the couch and unlatched her trail, the young lord grinning stupidly.
I dodge the blast, and apologize for collateral damage
Ace accepted the offer a beautiful, blushing young maidens offer for a dance. They spun, swirled and glided across the floor. She smiled. He bared his fangs.
Jenny pulled off her floral gloves that stretched up to her elbows with her teeth, throwing them to the floor as the young lord fumbled to loosen his belt.

Ace and the maiden spun, and while she closed her eyes in bliss, Ace exchanged a smile with the lord dancing across the floor that had been watching him the whole damn night.
Jenny smiled at the thought of their pay once this job was done, feeling the hidden blade strapped, hidden against her thigh. The young lord smiled shamelessly as he kissed and sucked at her powdered neck as she straddling him.
I want to make you quiver
Make your backbone shiver
Ace trailed his hands down her back, ignoring her gasp as he kept eye contact with the lordling that didn’t quite care that his partner was trying to get his attention, and gave Ace such a look that made him shiver. So much so, Ace didn’t notice the royal guards entering the mansion with a particular set of targets.
Jenny quivered at the touch of his fingertips down her bare back, and the sound of his breath that grew heavier with each intake of air.
Hey kid, take the stage and deliver
The royal guards raised their rifles, all aimed at Ace. Ace performed his favourite dance move, all in time with the other dancers, as one the gentlemen picked up their ladies and spun a ninety degree spin. For a moment, Ace held his lady closer, long enough so that the bullets aimed at him instead tore into her. Shame, he thought. The red ruined such a pretty white dress. He drew his blades hidden beneath his under-shirt.
The young lordling had gone to buck his hips up, but instead he shuddered and gasped for air, as her dagger produced from between his shoulder blades. He’d gone to stutter his name, and instead spluttered blood. Jenny pulled his close, his chest pressed against her bare breasts she gripped the daggers hilt.
“Careful now,” She breathed into his ear as he convulsed.
“Soulstra is a virgin, hasn’t been inside no man before. Be gentle,” Jenny yanked Soulstra out and wiped the blood against his shirt, and tucked it into a sheath on her upper-thigh.
“Hey, mister,” the bellman says. “I can only recall and spend some time," I said.
So he replies, “Then how do you manage?”
Ace danced a different dance. This one you danced to the song of screaming, gunfire and the kiss of steel.
This one he much preferred, with blades in hand, baring his fangs and both blades and eyes blazing red as he separated heads and limbs from their respective bodies.
Jenny gathered the papers, rolling them up and sliding them down her cleavage and righting her hair and gloves.

Seeing the battle below, Jenny took a copper, carved grip from her thigh and motioned a particular motion, a copper bow unfolding out, clicking and twisting to form itself, a miniature scope spinning into existence. She took a strap of pill-looking creations and pressed a fistful of them into a fist, five arrows sliding and clicking out into existence between her fingers. With bow and arrow she rained down hellfire, golden, white-feathered arrows connecting with skulls.
“How does it feel to stand on the very stones that ran with your parent’s blood?
The flat of blades running against armor.
Do you feel sad? Full of rage?
The sound of arrows whirring through the air.
Or does that outfit help you bury your feelings?
Desperate gunfire.
Hiding your true self?
The rush of the innocents out the door and into the snow-scape outside.
You’re truly an extraordinary specimen; I look forward to breaking you”
They managed their way up to her perch, and Jenny was forced to leap back down onto the ballroom floor and fight back to back with her mentor.

Three idiots to go. Ace plunged a single sword, dressed in red flames into the throat of one.
“Hey, mister,” the bellman says. “I can only recall and spend some time," I said.
So he replies, “Then how do you manage?”

One idiot to go. With a single arrow left, Ace swiped behind his legs and as he stumbled backwards, Jenny kicked him to the ground and slammed an arrow into his heart.
“Hey, mister,” the bellman says. “I can only recall and spend some time," I said.
So he replies, “Then how do you manage?”
Jenny tore at her dress, allowing her to run along side Ace out into the night, snow flying up in their wake alongside the holographic leaves leaving a faint trail, almost like a cloak. Ace panted, holding blood-soaked hand against a wound on his side.

And so the particular couple left the ball as they usually did.
Leaving a wake blood and misguided lust.
