在經歷過「舊世紀」的洗禮後﹐人類為了生存，紛紛遷到地底居住，建立地下共和國。經過不斷的努力，終於迎來了一個安全舒適的烏托邦。白光燈代替陽光、『世界之肺』提供氧氣、基因改造食物提供日常所需的營養和礦物質。人類的壽命開始延長，由原本的二十歲增加至三十歲。然而，在幸福的背後卻是不為人知的殘酷真相。

平凡少年阿初在無意中發現自己的領養者原來不是人類，而是靠吃人維生的怪物—偽物。隨即，他們成為整個地下共和國的敵人。懷著恐懼與愧疚的心情，阿初決定展開亡命的逃亡之旅。在各種陰謀和權力的糾纏下，他們能否平安逃脫呢？
