We build metropolises to live in

but these walls we put up are mirrored within

we call ourselves accomplished

it's only quantity over quality

so where do we go from here?

We start wars, killing

it's our duty we're fulfilling

whether defending or attacking

yet understanding one another is lacking

when does it ever end?

We separate poor from rich

dividing line becoming thick

contributing factors of corruption and politics

it's not laws, it's people that need to be fixed

how did we get here?

Only goal to an enterprise

no matter the cost or self-compromise

our morals quick demise of selfish ambition

the "American dream" a big fat lie

when will it ever be enough?

Headphones plugged in, tuning out the world

sheltered yourself in, a hermetic pearl,

clammed up as if you're the only one here

numb to all else, your feelings you fear

when will you let others in?

You do good things, without question good deeds

yet inner sins have sown your seeds

this charity only for your benefit

your own recognition, you've deemed fit

how tall is your high horse now?

If others don't agree, you shout

when it's not about you, you pout

not everything has to be your way

stubborn as a mule, other views you pushed away

why are you so afraid of something different?

Your vanity and narcissism contend for your identity

looking in the mirror, what do you see?

focused on fleeting things has made you ugly

you are your own significant other

when will you look inside?

we as humans, never learn our lesson

so I ask why? the answer my obsession

this sick cycle has me pining for a medicine

there is no cure for the disease we render

self destructive songs we sing on repeat

who should we be?

when will we ever learn?

why does our hate so hotly burn?

what will it take to get us where we should?

I don't know how, but I want to help

but how can I help when I feel so lost myself?

Where do we go from here?

I have no answers

the question some days eats at me like a cancer

I wish it was all a dream, but it's my nightmare

nothing seems right, we're broken beyond repair

our screams so silent, a deafening sound

lost and desperate, yet never found

grasping at the wind, so hurriedly it blows

where we do we go?

where the hell do we go from here??

I don't know

But even if I did, it doesn't matter

we'll never change our pace

this is us, this is you and me

meet the human race
