　　正值青春煥發的歲月，無憂無慮的少年理應盡情享受熱血與激情的校園生活，不過因為一個美艷轉校生的到來，擾亂了他的步調，甚至更因此而失去了性命。

　　死後的世界，正陷入混亂動盪的紛爭之中，以人手短缺為由，閻王竟指派他當鬼差，並與身前的死黨成為搭檔。少年自此成為了牛首人身的鬼差，負責捉拿、帶領陽壽終了的亡魂到地府審判。

　　與此同時，陰間的管治層正進行著交替，接任的新閻王有著較新的思維，銳意進行改革，切換陰間的一些老舊法則，改造陰間環境與建築，甚至提出改變地獄裡的一些罰則。而在推動這一系列的改革中，難免會與其他管治者意見相向並且發生衝突，而各殿的一些衝突亦難免會對地府造成混亂。

　　少年於新任的五殿閻王底下工作，亦因人手短缺的關係，需要處理很多額外的職務，更需於各大地獄中穿梭，與不同的靈魂、靈物、甚至妖物交鋒與戰鬥。而於其中一次的執勤中，他誤闖至地獄的最深處《無間地獄》中的一隱蔽之地，遇上了一頭被囚於此的萬年妖物，並將這頭妖物解放了，這導致了陰間變成混沌世界之開端。
