Suzanna was a maiden tall and fair,

With red rose buds in her shimmering hair.

Her drapes were made of lilac lace,

Silver trims on her girlish waist.

Like a fairy she crept to the windowsill

of her father's stately abode,

Her eyes were pools of moonlight

As she spied a man on the road.

No stranger was he, this handsome Prince,

Who moved to the windowsill,

The two young creatures shared a smile

In the warm night, safe and still.

The boy moved close to his sweetheart,

Whispering in her dryad ear.

His stirrings that broke the soft silence

Were words both sweet and sincere.

"One kiss in the twilight Suzanna;

One kiss 'fore the break of day.

Your father knows not of our romance,

Oh darling, what would he say?"

He held her close in the moonlight,

Neither wanted the embrace to end.

But alas, the sun peaked from the hillside,

Twilight began to descend;

So they drew apart ever so gently,

Suzanna gazed into his eyes.

Her cheeks were flames of daylight

As she gave him a kiss goodbye.

And there the lovers parted,

And just as the sun did rise,

The Prince rode away to his homeland,

With a kiss as his treasured prize.
