By half past nine, I was walking into the shop when suddenly I saw a beautiful girl that caught my attention, I was only capable of seeing her back but I noticed that she had a long black hair that totally mesmerized me, at first I couldn't properly see her eyes and her face so I decided to get closer and closer to her.
"Isn't it a lovely day?" I said to get her attention.
She turned around and I was finally able to see her face, after taking a closer look she had a really sweet face but to my demise, she was making an angry expression (probably because I came so out of left field) and asked me what the hell I wanted.
"I just wanted to talk with you"
"Sorry, I need to go home, it's getting really dark. Bye!" she said while smiling.
I wanted to grab her arm and try to extend the conversation but before I knew she already left, I don't know why but I still had an urge to see her again (and have yet to know her name!), thus I was determined to chase out in the town.
After some running I met her again outside the shop, so she was apparently lying to me, she didn't go home and probably just wanted to buy her stuff in peace, nonetheless I approach her again and tell her.
"Geez... Why did you lie to me, like I said before I just wante-" I said when I was suddenly interrupted by her.
"Oh it's you, can't you leave me alone" she plead.
It looked like she was about to "escape" from me again but this time I actually grabbed her arm and told to stay a little bit longer, she immediately told me to let her go or else she was going to scream and alert the watchmen of the town.
"Damn, you really are dismissive of me"
At this point I wanted her to notice me and probably made one of my worst decisions of my life,
"Want me to show you something cool? Here..." I said
I showed her my magic skills, just by my right hand I could summon a short amount of fire, for the first time she actually looked quite impressed and seemed happy but I think I might have misinterpreted her because behind me there was a watchman who saw my little display of magic.
"Hey you, what the hell do you think you're doing!?" shouted the watchman.
It's common knowledge that around this country called Agnia the use of magic is prohibited and only if you have the permission of the church you can practice it, to sum it up, I was in quite a pinch and just like this beautiful girl was trying to escape from me an hour ago, now I have to escape from this watchman or else I will be sent to the dungeon!
But, before I even started running the girl I was holding on to, bit me and fled, that totally caught me off guard and kinda made my change the opinion of her a little bit, still, I had a major problem to deal with, the guard was drawing near and I had no option but to attack him.
For the time being I can only use small magic spells since I don't dominate my magic skills that much and I can't even practice them due to the strict rules of the church, nonetheless I used this at my advantage and I summoned a fire on the watchman's mouth and finally got an opportunity to escape.
"AAAAAGGGHH" screamed in pain the mouth-wounded watchman.
While I was running I came to the sad conclusion that a nightwatch from the tower that vigils the town must have caught wind of the incident and it was time for me and my little brother to leave the town, leaving the town is the best option at hand due to fierce persecution of people that go against the church, also know as "heretics".
Thus I made my way into my home to alert my little brother that we were leaving this town due to the previous incident.
"Hey, Cliff what's wrong with you, you face is red as a tomato" said my brother in a laughing manner.
"Pick up your sword and your belongings Garrison, we are leaving this place" I told him.
I tried to explain the situation as faster as possible to not get distracted and let the guards come plowing in front of our doors.
"By the way, we probably aren't going to return"
"What!!? You can't just tell me that!" shouted my brother
"Why are you so worked up, I don't remember you being quite fond of this place"
"I'm not but I still have business to do in this place" he replied
"Like what?" I asked
"A guard recently confiscated the sword my previous mercenary group gave me, so sooner or later I'm gonna have to take it back"
"Oh that's sad, but you shouldn't have let that situation happen in the first place"
"Look who's talking, you just came back from a bigger mess up than mine!"
We laughed while having some small disputes here and there but we were finally ready to leave our home, we didn't have much to deal with the monsters that lurked outside the town so we planned on hiding on some ruins that no one ever bothers to go.
"Mmm.. That seems like a good place to stay for the night, I mean the monsters at night are much stronger so going to the next time seems kinda impossible with our current equipment" said my brother Garrison.
"Yeah some fire magic and a cheap wooden sword won't help us that much" I agreed
"If only I had that sword..." he said in a sad demeanor.
In spite of that, I told my brother to not worry about it to much and to start leaving this place because the guards could come here in no time if we kept wasting time.
We decided to partake on a shortcut that most people don't go to, it's the street of the vagabonds, the street is infamous for holding a large amount of homeless people and coin beggars.
One of them is quite dangerous, he's called Kabul and if you have happen to met him or make eye contact with you, you're forced to pay him 10 golden coins or even more depending on his mood!
"Yeah I really hope we don't cross paths with him" said Garrison.
"Considering my luck I wouldn't doubt it" I said while sighing.
As we were walking, he appeared, the man we didn't want to meet appeared, Kabul himself.
