”don’t think just do,” said Daniel as he paced around the edge of the makeshift ring. “If you think it through it’ll just slow you down. Your powers are there. Use them.”
opposite danile Shari paced, her spatha handle held in her hand but not activated.
”easy for you,” muttered Shari as she pressed the button, her blade materialized as the Nano tech shot out the end of the handle.
”ready?” Asked Daniel.
”ready,” said Shari as she instinctively took a ready pose.
richard presses the button on his stopwatch and settled in to watch.
daniel moved like a blur, running forwards and leaping into the air to flip over Shari and strike at her upside down. Shari parried awkwardly and turned to find Daniel coming at her from behind.
”you got this!” Yelled Richard as he looked at the stopwatch.
shari parried blow after blow, forced on the defensive.
”use your powers!” Yelled Richard. “Don’t think just do!”
all of a sudden Shari’s sword blade glowed purple and when Daniels blade hit it it sparked and turned red hot.
suddenly it was Daniel on the defensive as he stopped blows with his shield to give his sword a chance to cool down.
Shari stepped in close and Richard sighed. Game over.
danile bashed Shari in the chest with his shield and she stumbled backwards, her sword still raised. Then she tripped over a tree root and fell. The aura around her sword disappeared. Daniel took full advantage to knock it out of her hand.
”game set,” he said as he helped Shari up.
”how long did I last?” She groaned as she rubbed her chest where danile had hit it.
”five minutes twenty two seconds,” said Richard as he walked up. “You lasted a minute and twelve seconds longer than your record.”
“That’s good,” said Daniel. “And you were able to use your powers. Let’s try that again.”
daniel and Shari took up their positions and Richard reset the stopwatch.
”five, four, go,” he said as he pressed the button.
shari leaped forwards, her sword glowing with energy. Daniel blocked with his shield and swung his sword at the same time. Only for Shari to block it with her hand encased in energy.
daniel leaps backwards his sword and shield both glowing red hot.
shari tried to press home her advantage but Daniel didn’t give her a chance. He threw his shield and ran immediately after it. Swinging his sword in patterns that shifted the angle and direction of the blade at the last second. Shari parried and dodged most of them. Until danile kicked his shield up and literally punched it into her chest. Shari flew backwards and instantly Daniel was standing above her. His foot holding her sword arm down and his blade at her neck.
”game set,” said Daniel as he stepped back and helped Shari up.
”seven minutes flat,” said Richard. “And you were controlling your powers. I’d say that’s pretty good progress.”
”I agree,” said Daniel. “Now you just need to figure out how to read minds.”
