嗅覺心理學界的頂尖專家瑞邱.赫茲博士，曾針對氣味與情緒之間做過研究：氣味可以透過聯想轉換成情緒，進而影響我們如何思考及行動，稱為氣味-情緒制約。

與氣味的正向聯結，可以促成正向情緒制約，比如說，在唸書順利的時候，把這種頭腦清明的感覺和特定的氣味聯結，當工作或課業面臨挑戰時，就能夠使用這氣味來鼓舞自己，我想，許多人喜愛咖啡，也是因為這個緣故吧？

美國杜克大學的心理學家蘇珊史基佛曼曾經進行過相關研究，觀察到在灑有香氣的地鐵車廂內，乘客們發生推擠，碰撞，以及無理言論的頻率的機率比起未噴灑香氣車廂減少一半。

所以，找個適合自己的香氣來鼓舞自己吧！比如說，唸書或工作的時候，用幾滴檸檬精油或是迷迭香精油來振奮精神，鼓舞自己！
