Premise: On the southern continent of Alyab, there exists a small clan of maegi. Their peaceful existence is shattered by the arrival of the Leitarke Empire's forces. With each side determined to prevent an outbreak of war that could kill thousands, numerous individuals through tragic hubris and destined fates will shape the course of history and be remembered for years to come.

Author's Note: Written in collaboration between two authors on one account, this anthology of 'selected scenes' details a major event in a co-created fantasy world. Multiple characters and perspectives form a cohesive story about love, family, and the morality of magic in a world fearful of its power.
