「界化人」，是一群擁有特殊能力的人類，是抵抗強大外族侵略的重要防線，相對於其他的族群，人類原先擁有的只有科技而已。隨著外族的進進出出，人類世界外的不明物質開始使某些人類變異，這就是所謂的「界化」。

這些特殊人類，在高中階段會進行特殊的教育方式，將他們與一般人類隔離，進行完全的作戰訓練。

人類為此制定出的辦法就是「戰團」，五個界化人組成一對，由專門導師進行團隊訓練，並且絕對禁止與一般人類進行交流，直到結束高中教育。

結束高中教育後，隨之而來的便是從軍。在界化人的軍隊內，擔任行政職位的通常是一般人類，除非擁有特殊才能，不然皆以作戰為主要。

「戰團」在結束高中教育後不會解散，但內部成員可以自行更迭。但有例外，也就是行政工作，若是戰團中有人擔任相關職位，視情況，最簡單就是剩下四人，若不只一人離隊，最麻煩就是解散，恢復普通人類身份，並進行能力封鎖儀式，小組人員死亡亦同。
