The stares. They follow us everywhere. We stand against the tide, grip onto each others hand for safety, but realise the stares simply grow. Each kiss, each word we utter, each hug, touch, laugh, look we share is tainted by the stares. Rumors follow like the buzz of flies. Why do people still act surprised when we show affection? We came out of the closet just to have to step back in to hide from the judgement. For every great, kind, supportive person who doesn't mind a bit there are others who, like our people, lie on a spectrum. Only instead of love, this is of hate, from derogatory terms to full on confrontation. Liking things are objective. Love stands through all. But people want to tear it down, for what they don't like to be universally hated. We feel shunned. The stares follow us everywhere. Why do the stares have to be open? The stares don't hide. But we have to. We hide from those who don't.
