It was getting harder and harder to breathe. Drops of blood running down in thin rivulets didn't quite help ease the raven's mind either though they went forgotten as dark brown eyes stared up at the impassive, mismatched pair. How this man was even able to pull off something like this, his face void of any emotion was a mystery that had Calix wondering if he'd ever get the chance to solve. The once happy face of his friend was hidden beneath a cold, pale façade from the likes he had never seen before.
He didn't want to believe his Evren was capable of such cruel things. This man couldn't have been the same boy from years past that befriended, taught, and even provided for the younger one all that time ago.
"Ren…" Calix choked out, surprised by how his voice had come out. "…please?" He winced as the officer pulled at the almost unseen wires, cutting his fingers once more as they dug deeper into his skin. "Stop, please!"
Watching the face of the man on the ground, the one standing stepped closer as the raven squeezed his eyes shut. When they had crack opened once again, a faint shade of blue setting in along his face, Evren stopped as soon as they locked gazes. A twinge in the side of head then had him taking one step back, his hold slacking for a moment. Hearing the other shift, Ren tightened his grasp once more, watching as multiple streams of red began to trail down the teen's neck. Again, when they locked gazes, the one on his feet took another step back before cradling the side of his head.
He had seen that expression, the one of worry and fear.
He had seen it before but couldn't place when he had seen it, where he had been, what was happening, and on whose face he had seen it upon.
"Ev…ren." Shaking his head slowly, said person squeezed his eyes shut as he felt it throb. "Are you ok?"
"Ren…" His name was whispered. "Are you ok?!"
The voice that had said it was laced with fright and apprehension. The owner of it was probably that of a child though their face was fuzzy from what he could tell. He could almost make out the wide dark spots for eyes though they were glossy, perhaps from crying.
"Dammit," Evren hissed quietly.
His head was killing him.
"Ren."
"Shut up," he ordered, pulling on the thin cables.
Wincing as his fingers were sliced into further, Calix glanced down at the knife holstered to his side. With one arm indisposed of at the moment, his only other option was to remove his hand from his neck, risking the chance of having his throat cut into even more.
Slipping his hand free, with the help of the blood slicking his fingers, Cal reached down and grasped the hilt of his weapon. His hold tightened as the red liquid stained the handle, making it harder to grip. He winced, almost gagging as he felt the thin wire cutting into his neck. Cracking his eyes open, he looked up to see the paler man standing over him, his hand pulling back to tug on the wires.923Please respect copyright.PENANAE7bKEh0SAm
"R…Ren…"
Receiving just a cold, deadpanned stare, Calix frowned as dark spots settled in line of vision, the feeling of lightheadedness beginning to set in.923Please respect copyright.PENANAXZUdf4Dpey
"He's not at the park."923Please respect copyright.PENANAPOiEx5KlOS
"Are you sure?" Renyx asked, leaning up against the wall as he smoked a cigarette. Cocking his head when he didn't receive an answer, he slid a finger to the left side of his shades. "Yo, Will?"923Please respect copyright.PENANAAgYkHA0Kb7
"He's not in the park," she said again, more exasperated this time around.923Please respect copyright.PENANAT00Lt09F4p
"What's wrong with you, lady?"923Please respect copyright.PENANAfFoTcQeKJh
"Hate when you ask me the same thing after I gave you an answer." The blue-streaked raven sat in her chair, fingers pressed in a steeple as she eyed the monitor currently showing the park. "He's not at the wallyball courts, the fountain, the vending machine, the fields, nor is he at the facilities."923Please respect copyright.PENANAbVY8ZCzMmj
"You have a camera on the facili-wha?"
"Bathrooms."
"Why do you have a camera on the-never mind. Can you pick up on his signal? I've tried calling him but he's not picking it up," the redhead asked. "I mean, if he was still mad at me, he'd at least send it straight to voicemail instead of letting it ring, right?"923Please respect copyright.PENANABAd2KgCfGx
"How should I know?" Will asked, cracking her fingers before keying in commands. "I don't ever seem to make him mad."
"You have no idea," the man mumbled.
"What was that?" she asked heatedly.923Please respect copyright.PENANA6oEO4bbOjk
"Oh nothing…so did you find anything yet?"
Feeling the corner of her eye twitch, Will took a deep breath before continuing with what she was doing. "No, I-" Noticing a small blip blinking on a radar, she pulled the screen over before having the camera of that area zoom in. "Well, I've found his bag," she said. "It's in Sector B, District 2."923Please respect copyright.PENANAG87X1cW8Xq
"Is he around?"
"It doesn't seem like it." She tapped at the keyboard. "I'll check the area now." Pushing aside that screen, she pulled up another, dark eyes scanning the multiple views given. "He's not in District 3 or 4, 5, or 6…"923Please respect copyright.PENANAorr3J8BYRj
"What kind of idiot leaves his things just lying about?"
"Well, I could ask you the-hold it."
"What's up?" Renyx asked as he flicked the away the cigarette butt. "Will?"
"Get to Sector B, District 10."923Please respect copyright.PENANAtADc5M3QCh
"Did you find him?" he asked as he pushed himself off the wall. "What's he doing? Is he too busy moping or something to call-"923Please respect copyright.PENANAycMtRHDmda
"Anthony."923Please respect copyright.PENANA7bK5WqFYUL
The man stopped briefly, waiting to hear more since the woman hardly ever used his first name. "Will, what's wrong? What is it?"923Please respect copyright.PENANAUSE4ai9gQR
"He's…with that new task officer."923Please respect copyright.PENANAXZxmAjcBbz

"He's not moving."923Please respect copyright.PENANAuotYLsgI7r
"What? He heard movement over the link before hearing the sound of door closing. "Will-"
"Anthony, he's not moving!" she hissed. "Get your ass to B10, now!"
"Dammit," Renyx groused as he left Centrai station.
It was bad enough the raven had taken off after the newly appointed officer had took his leave. The white-haired man practically gave off the wrong kind of vibes, making the redhead wonder what exactly could've been the connection between him and Cal. The teen never spoke on it, but he didn't come out after that. He claimed to be sick and remained home, locked in his room doing only God knew what.
But now he was out, and with Evren no doubt.
What the hell's so great about him anyway? his thoughts questioned. He's just another damn officer. Fraking officers...923Please respect copyright.PENANAXnyf5uUN8y
"…I know him…"
"How do you know him though?" Renyx asked as he crossed the border between the old and new.
Calix never said how he knew him. He just said he knew the man. The way he looked when the paler man opened his eyes the first time they saw him in that container, the way Cal acted when he had slipped into unconsciousness again, how furious he had become when the older man closed the door left too many questions.
How exactly did he know him?
What was their connection?
A minor rumble then pulled the redhead's attention elsewhere. Seeing the rising plume of dust, Renyx sped off in that direction, the concern of authority figures appearing not bothering him.923Please respect copyright.PENANABKhNe5Uf2s
No one ever came to the rundown half of the past Polaris.
It was deemed too dangerous, what with the risks of buildings falling and streets caving in.
All of which never happened, not that the trio that hung around there would say anything about it.
Again, another plume went up, this time making the ground shake just a bit. A building went down, which was a first in a long time making the man cut down the closest alleyway. From there, he hopped over a fence, grateful he had actually watched the raven enough to copy him. Cutting cross the districts of the sector, he skidded to a stop as he came across the raven's bag.
Looking around as he picked it up, he stilled as he heard something toppling over. Rummaging through the bag, Renyx found his friend's second knife and everything else he had left behind.
Dumbass…
He would have to rip the teen a new one for leaving his things behind, especially after what was happening but it'd have to wait.
He knew that much as he headed further in.
Skirting around cars, toppled structures, and just about whatever else was in the way, Renyx came to a halt as he reached his destination. The buildings of the surrounding area looked as if a bomb had gone off in the area. The brick lay strewn all over the once cleared area, shards of glass glinted in the sun, splintered wood lay haphazardly in frames of doorways.
"Will!" the man shouted as he fanned away some of the haze. Pressing forward, he stopped shortly after as something else went down in the distance. "Will!" With no response, he continued forward until he found who had come for initially. "Dammit…"
Kneeling, Renyx dropped his gaze as he felt something warm seeping into the material of his jeans. Seeing the red liquid spreading slowly, the man then looked back up at the raven's pale face. Leaning forward, he tilted his head and sighed his relief immediately as he heard the faintest sound of breath with the accompanying faint puffs of warm air fanning across his cheek.923Please respect copyright.PENANAw6Z0TTgwNY
Sitting straight, Renyx then noticed a dim glimmer of something wrapped around the other's neck. Picking at it, he pulled his hand away immediately when the object sliced his skin. Watching the drops slide down his fingers, ochre-colored eyes looked down to regard the wire with disgust.
Again, he pulled at the thing once more, ignoring the cuts he was acquiring. Lifting his friend's head carefully, he unwound the line before tossing the item aside in favor of studying the thin cuts that covered the teen's neck. Seeing the loosened bindings poking up through his collar, Renyx slowly moved the raven's arm to fix them before pausing as he saw the same wire wrapped around Cal's fingers, wrist and forearm.
"Dammit, CL," he breathed as he undid the damaging item.
Retrieving the teen's looser shirt from the bag, the man then withdrew the knife the raven kept holstered to his side. Cutting the article of clothing into strips, he carefully began to wipe away the blood before covering it up with the shredded shirt. Watching as the red liquid began to soak through the light material; Renyx looked about, calling for Will.
She would know what to do.
She always did.
When no answer came, the redhead sheathed the raven's knife before tapping him on the cheek. "Hey," he whispered, tapping just a bit harder than before. "Wake up, Cal." The other did not. His eyes didn't even shift beneath his eyelids. "Calix…um…you're going to be late for school." Nothing. "Hey, Mal's going to have a heart attack if you're not home soon. You didn't even call to check in, did you?" Nothing. Looking off down the alleyway he had come, Renyx spotted the woman he had been calling for though, as Will disappeared from sight, the man spotted the white-haired officer pursuing her. "Calix…um, Evren wants to talk to you."
"E-Evren…"
So, you come around for that bastard?
Gritting his teeth, Renyx put his anger aside for the time being as he noticed the dark brown of the younger man's eyes as they began to crack open slowly.
"Ren…"
"Yes, Calix-"
"Ev…ren," Cal managed before his eyelids began to droop once more.
"CL, stay awake." Watching as the man's eyes took on a glossier appearance, Renyx tapped him on the cheek once they slid completely shut. "No, wake up, Calix." He shook him lightly by the shoulders, merely to have his head loll to the side. "Calix, wake up!" he ordered. "Um, Ren wants to talk to you."
The raven didn't move, not even after the mentioning of a certain task officer.923Please respect copyright.PENANAZvqHnRJw0e
"Stop running."923Please respect copyright.PENANAecmGd3GMp9
Mismatched eyes watched as Will turned down another counter. Slowing his own pace, Evren turned down the path the woman had gone, knowing full well it was a dead end. And once he caught sight of the one he was chasing, he sighed heavily as she spun on her heels, a scowl upon her face. As her own eyes darted about, probably trying to find a route of escape, the officer preceded forward, a sliver of annoyance flashing in his gaze.
"Stay away from me," Will snapped as she eased back, hand in her pocket.
"Generally, I don't like fighting with females," he replied as he continued on.
"Then don't."
"But you did attack an officer-" The man watched as the other appeared to grab something, his own hand easing towards his gun. "-and we just can't have that, can we?"
"Says the man that tried to kill an innocent person!"
"Innocent?" Will merely scowled at the somewhat derisive tone. "You say he's innocent? He broke into a police station, vandalized property, and-"
"So what?"
"And he came at me with a knife," Evren said firmly. "If anything, he better hope he's dead by the time I get back to him after what he did." Clenching her jaw, the woman withdrew a gun and pointed it at the man. "Now, now; a lady shouldn't hold such a thing." He pulled out his own, keeping it at low ready, as he pressed forward. "Drop it."923Please respect copyright.PENANAkZV7YdxLH4
"Like hell," she spat.
"Ma'am-"
"I said, like hell!"
"Such a stubborn, woman," he said before charging her.
Startled at first by how fast he was closing the distance between them, Will clenched her jaw before sidestepping the man as he made an attempt to grab her. Turning on her heels when she judged the distance to be enough, she aimed her weapon before pulling the trigger.
When bullets didn't strike him, Evren looked down to flimsy looking wire clinging to his chest. Arching an eyebrow, he set his sights on the woman before heading towards her. His eyes dared her to squeeze the trigger again as he watched her finger twitch ever so slightly.
"I wouldn't."
"I would," she said with a quiet fury.
"I dare you," he replied.
Straightening, Will just glared before pulling back on the trigger, firing out a current of electricity.
After all, she wouldn't truly use a bullet-firing weapon.
Calix made her promise that much but that didn't mean she couldn't carry an amped up taser.
Watching the officer as he dropped onto his knees, hair frizzed and muscle twitching, Will took a step forward as the white-haired officer held himself up on shaking arms.
"Give up?"
She received a chuckle. That then became a laugh as the man hung his head. As the officer's arms stilled, a hand reached up to pull away the electrified wire before the item was cast to the ground. From there, the uniquely colored eyes peered up at the woman through the shadows of Evren's pale hair.
"If I didn't know any better, I think you were expecting that to hurt me," he said as he slowly pulled himself onto his feet. "But, you know what? It was more of a tickle." Taking a step forward, the corner of his mouth twitched into the faintest of smiles as he held up a hand. "This, however-"Will's eyes caught the glimmer of light reflecting off of the thin, almost transparent wire trailing from the man's fingers. "-might not. Actually, this might hurt…a lot."923Please respect copyright.PENANAIJud1FvVql
Catching the sound of something else, not the sound of footsteps as they made their way down the alley, Will turned to run once she realized what it was. It was a low hum that seemed to get louder the closer the officer came. It was steady, malevolent even.
It sounded like electricity.
"Ah, ah, ah."
The sound of his voice, how close it was, was far more unnerving than the woman initially thought. She didn't dare to look over her shoulder but she didn't have to as a hand grabbed the back of her shirt.
"Let go of me!" she ordered.
"Very well," Evren said before pushing her into an adjacent wall.
Clenching her jaw as she turned around, dark eyes widened once they saw how close the jade and turquoise ones were. They took on a scarier feel as they pierced through the shadowing of the man's pale-colored hair. Shifting her gaze a bit, she noted the arm barring her way before going rigid from the low hum coming from her right. Bringing herself to look that way, she stared at the small blue light crackling along the thin cable, its sound growing even louder as it began to get closer and closer.
"You're all the same," she said as she hardened her gaze. Renyx…you better have Cal out of here.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me." Staring at the man now, she managed a glared. "You're all the same. You do nothing but terrorize people! Some help you a-"
"Quiet," he ordered. "Only criminals would say that I would terrorize anyone. If anything, I'm doing this place a favor!"
Will turned her head. "Don't go flattering yourself, highness."
Grabbing her chin, Evren smirked inwardly as he felt the woman flinch. Turning her head back towards him, he stared at her angry, dark eyes before easing his hand towards her. Seeing how the woman just continued to glare at him, he decided to end it until he saw her reaction as the electrified cables touched a few of her pale blue strands, frying them in the process.
From there, he watched her eyes gain the slightest sliver of worry, of fear.923Please respect copyright.PENANAS0GRTqXcgV
"It's ok." The man remembered seeing an expression like that before. "It'll be ok. You don't have to be scared."
Lowering his hand for a moment, his own gaze faltered for just a moment.
"But the men will…Ren, they'll-"
"It's ok." A smile was flashed but to who? "I'll be right here."
"But what if they-"
"Nothing bad will happen."
He took a small step back as the side of his head started to throb.
"But they said they'd come back. They said we might get hurt."
"I promise; you won't get hurt. I won't let it happen."
Stepping off as he had a name at the tip of his tongue, Evren clenched his jaw to stave off the persistent throb of his growing headache prior to looking up. Will was watching him, a sliver pity shining in her dark eyes.
Something he neither wanted nor needed.923Please respect copyright.PENANAgkRVUzLED7
Screw the name…
Seeing an opening, the blue and black-haired woman took it. As she ran, Will ducked out of reach as the officer made a grab for her. Seeing an old trashcan, she picked up its lid before hurling it at the man, successfully slowing him down enough for her to get out of the little lane.923Please respect copyright.PENANAUTY0kOkqwm
"They're going to find us, aren't they? They're going to chase us…"
Throwing the lid aside, Evren hurried out onto the sidewalk, allowing his oddly colored eyes to look all about.
"Let them then. They won't catch us." Another smile was given. "We're better than them. We know this place like the back of our hand."
Not spotting her, the man clenched his jaw prior to heading back to the area he had the raven-haired teenager.
"Ren…"
"Don't worry. They'll never find us. Do you know why?"
"Because…we know it like the back of our hand?"
"Exactly."
Coming to a stop, Evren had a look around, taking in the worn down environment. Pressing his hand onto an old street lamp, he tilted his head back to watch as the bulb flickered to life before dying out. Bringing his hand up, the officer observed it, flexing his fingers enough to make the thin wires emit tiny sparks. Curling the digits to make a fist, he used it to strike the post, denting it in the process, before walking down the street.
"Evren, come in."
Mismatched eyes glanced over to stare at the small radio on his shoulder before focusing on what was ahead. "What is it, Tyson?"
"Where are you?"
"My whereabouts aren't of your concern."
"Don't be such a prick." The white-haired man rounded the corner. "You need to come back to the headquarters. You're going to be late for your physical."923Please respect copyright.PENANAivOgsC9IVj
"I said I was fine at the last one." Coming to a stop in the area he had left his earlier opponent, a small scowl pulled at the man's mouth when he didn't see anyone laying there. "I don't need a checkup."
"It's not a choice."
Kneeling down, he placed a finger into the puddle of blood before rubbing his two fingers together.
"Come with me. Ren, come with me!"
"God dammit," he breathed as he brought a hand up to cradle the side of his head."
"Ren!"
That voice sounded like a child's though he couldn't tell who it was. And as the ache intensified, the officer brought up his other hand, using it to hold the other side of his head, not carrying about the blood staining his pale skin or hair.
"Ren, come with me!"
He smelled gunpowder though he didn't hear the sound of a firearm going off.
His head was hurting.
"I can't…"
"Evren, please?!"
"I can't…"
"Ren!"
The smell of the gunpowder was strong but he still couldn't find a source to it. Even more, not only did his head hurt, but he felt a sharp pain stab him in the back before it made its way to the front. Bringing a hand down, Evren pressed it to his stomach, applying pressure as if he had been wounded before removing his hand slowly to see nothing but the blood he had smeared there.
"Evren…please?"
That small voice sounded so broken.
"Evren."
"Evren…"
"I can't…I," he said before he squeezed his eyes shut.
"Evren."
It felt unbearably cold all of a sudden, like all the blood was leaving his body.
Hanging his head slowly, it didn't feel like he'd be able to move on his own.
"Please?! You have to come with me! You promised! You promised me, Evren!"
"Evren!"923Please respect copyright.PENANAIwP3lFyRuH
Cracking his eyes open, said person stared down at the red pool before lifting his head to stare out at an old building a ways off. Tilting it all the way back, he then stared up at the sky before hearing his name being shouted once again.
"What is it, T…Tyson?" he asked.
"Are you ok?" the other asked.
"Are you ok?!"
"Where are you?"
"I'm fine," Evren replied as he pulled himself to his feet.
"Are you sure?"
"I said I was fine, didn't I?"
"Well, you don't sound like it!" Tyson spat back. "Just hurry up and get back here!"
Rolling his eyes, Evren headed out of the district and made his way to the border between the new and old. Looking over his shoulder, he brought a hand up to his stomach, pressing it there before wincing at the headache making itself known once more.
And hearing the irate man barking at him to get his ass in gear, the pale man headed back to the borrowed squad car he had stationed a few blocks from the limit. "Yeah, yeah, I'm coming. You don't have to yell. You're giving me a headache."923Please respect copyright.PENANA8rDvvCalLY
