Standing high above, Evren's gaze swept over the desolated area he had been patrolling. His oddly colored eyes quickly scanned over the district he was in, noting every bit of movement from down below. Shifting on occasion, he didn't utter a word as his colorless hair whipped him in the face before he would brush it aside. Besides the wind blowing, it was quiet due to the fact that Tyson had yet to report anything via radio.743Please respect copyright.PENANAU5l3YCuSxI
It was alright.
The task officer wouldn't complain.
Giving the district one more look, the man stepped off the edge of the roof to land on the top railing of a metal link fence. With sure steps, he crossed over to the adjacent building's fire escape. Close enough, he grabbed hold of the closest rung prior to dropping down to the cracked pavement below. Taking in his surroundings as he straightened, Evren then walked out of the narrow alleyway and onto the old street.
His gaze stayed low to the ground as he passed by the outmoded cars that lay abandoned. Stopping next to a semi, he slowly ran his fingers along the flattened tire before touching the metal. Hearing a faint click, something similar to bulbs blinking, Evren circled around front to see the headlights going on and off. Bringing his hand down on the grill, mismatched eyes watched as the light steadied, giving off a faint hum.
"Evren."
He pulled his hand away, watching as the headlights died away. "What is it, Tyson?"
"There's no sign of the redhead." The leader said nothing. "There's no sign of anyone."
"Then feel free to go back," Evren replied as he stared at the relic of a vehicle.
He reached out to touch it once more before pulling his hand away to study it. Flexing his fingers slowly, he watched the barest of sparks before lowering it. Reaching down to withdraw his weapon, he turned, gun in hand, simply to have another one pressed to his brow.
"You're still quite slow." Dark eyes glanced down at the other's arm before grabbing hold of his wrist. "Why aren't you using your dominant hand?"
"As if I'd owe you an explanation," Evren chided. "Let go of my hand."
"No."
"That's an order."
"So?"
"Let go."
"You've got that stick in your ass again." Feeling the corner of his eye twitch, the shorter officer wrenched his arm back, simply to clench his jaw. "Hurts, doesn't it?" Tyson asked as he applied a bit of pressure. "Do you think it's broken?"
"How the hell should I know?" Evren said through his teeth.
"Well…"
Watching the man's face for any reaction, the raven squeezed tighter, not getting the desired results. Feeling his leader try to pull his hand away, Tyson pulled it forward, eliciting a small hiss.
"Tyson."
"Hmm?"
"Let go," Evren ordered after a steady exhale.
"No."
"Tyson…"
"No."
"Tyson!"
"Yeah…no."
Feeling another squeeze, followed by the shifting of bone, the white-haired officer bowed his head as he tried pulling his hand away. Meeting obvious resistance, he pulled harder, clenching his jaw to stave off any small sounds. Bones continued to shift beneath the pale skin though Evren remained quiet. The fingers of his good hand curled to form a tight fist though it was not used to strike the man. Instead, it slowly uncurled before the man mustered the strength to yank his injured limb with enough force to make it slip out of the raven's grasp. And once free, he stumbled back and into the semi prior to retreating a few more steps.
"Ev-"
"Stay away from me, Tyson," he ordered as he tried not to move his throbbing and possibly swelling hand. "Just go back already."
Shoving his hands into his pockets, the taller male rolled his eyes as he passed by the one supposedly in charge. "Fine; whatever," he grumbled.
Looking over his shoulder, Ty soon came to a stop as he watched the other officer cradle his wounded hand. Long fingers gently mapped out the out of place bones while mismatched eyes were focused on the growing red color of the usually pale skin before the limb was pulled to rest against the man's chest partially heaving chest. Seeing what could have been a slight tremor, Tyson circled around until he stood behind the man. And sensing his presence, Evren turned, ready to strike the man though he never received the chance as his good hand was seized.
"Let go of me," Evren all but growled under his breath.
He slid his foot back, glaring at the man, with all intentions to kick him in the side. Determining the possibility of cracking, if not breaking, the raven's ribs, the smaller male swung his leg up, disregarding the high chance he had come up with. It was then that surprised flitted along his features, merely to be replaced by his previous annoyance.
"Put my leg down."
"Tell me why I should," Tyson said, holding the leg just a bit higher to offset the man's balance. "You did just try to kick me, right?"
"Tyson," he groused, "put-"
"Evren-"
"I said to put my leg down!"
Shaking his head, the raven watched the officer's face darken. "Will you ever listen?" he asked.
"I shouldn't have to!"
Dark eyes shifted to pin the man with an indifferent stare.
The question was supposed to be a quiet one; one meant just for him. But, seeing how the paler officer had taken the liberty to answer it quickly, and without apparent thought, Tyson took it upon himself to get the man to do the opposite. Tightening his hand along the other's wrist, he was careful not to let the man's finger touch him while he pulled the leg just a bit more, making Evren stumble forward.
Crashing into the raven's chest, Evren shoved his injured hand against the other's torso, wincing as the result. Pulling the limb away quickly, Evren bowed his head to stave off the sounds threatening to escape him.
"Ev-"
"Put my leg-" Aforementioned limb was released and dropped back to the ground "-down. Now, let go of my hand."
"No."
"Ty-"
Biting his tongue, Tyson grasped the man's chin and tilted it up to see the slightest trace of ire. Hearing his name once more, the officer exhaled quietly before leaning in to give his leader a kiss. His hold tightened subtly when Evren tried to pull away though he was the one to part as he felt a mild shock. Distancing himself, he watched the other's face for just a moment before grabbing hold of the man's injured hand carefully.
Making eye contact, the red ones watched the mismatched pair before pressing a kiss to the back of it.
"Ty-"
Dropping the limb, said person gave his commander another kiss. With no sign of struggle, or the usual method of negating, Tyson stepped back to admire the officer's faint blush.
Unable to hold it in, Ty chuckled with amusement. "Cute."
"I hate you," Evren muttered as he walked away.
"Yeah…" the taller of the two said to himself. "…I know."
Sliding one of hands into his pockets, he followed after his leader since their shift was just about over anyway. Glancing at the other's injured limb, he rubbed the back of his neck before averting his eyes as Evren went to cradle his hand. When he had lost track of the other's steps, he slid his hand down to the holstered weapon securely strapped to his leg prior to spotting his commander just a few meters ahead. Apparently the man was in the process of holding his hand once more.
Hearing another approaching from behind, Evren lowered his hand quickly in order to grab his gun. However, as he tried to curl his fingers around the butt of his firearm, he yanked it back quickly prior to turning to pin the person with a questioning glare.
It was late and the man didn't want to put up with anything else.
To his surprise, though, mismatched eyes locked onto the dark red ones. They seemed even dark in the available waning light given by the moon while his usual tanned skin seemed to be just a tad paler. The usual smirk that was there was replaced by a flat line while the streaks in the man's black hair appeared to give off its own glow, leaving the paler man to rip his gaze away once he realized he had been staring. The faintest sound of thunder then had Evren looking up as clouds began to cover the moon. A sigh escaped him as he hung his head, a light drizzle falling soon after.
"Tyson…hurry up and get out of the rain."
"Could say the same thing to you. You know how you get," he retorted while he watched the smaller man shiver. "You cold?"
Not bothering to answer, Evren began to walk as the rain started to drown out his footsteps. As it began to pour, he shivered once more before brushing aside the long bangs that fell in front of his eyes. Annoyed as they kept falling in his face, he grumbled under his breath before picking up his pace.
He just wanted to get out of the freezing downpour.
The sooner the better.
Stepping around the larger puddles, mismatched eyes watched as the water ran down into the drains.
"Evren."
Tilting his head slightly to the side, said person's gaze shifted to regard the radio on his shoulder. "Sir?"
"Where's your current position?"
The officer had a look around. "Old Polaris, District 4B."
"Is…that rain?"
"Yes," he replied.
"Well, hurry up and get out of it. You know how you get."
Evren merely hunched his shoulders. "I'm headed back now."
"Arrival time?"
"Roughly sixty minutes on foot."
"Forty-five? That's unacceptable."
"Sir-"
"I'll have a patroller pick you up."
"Sir, that isn't-"
"It should be there in less than thirty. Find somewhere dry."
"But-"
Sighing as the connection was terminated; the officer brushed the hair from his line of vision once more prior to looking up at the rainy sky. As another sigh escaped him, he lowered his head as he began to walk in search of a place to stay. Hearing the sound of wood creaking, he looked over his shoulder to see the raven pulling away the boards that barricaded an old entryway. Dark eyes then shifted his way before the man entered the dark room himself.
Looking up at the clouded sky one more time, Evren then entered the building. Hearing the faint rhythmic sound of the water falling against the walls and ceiling, he walked further in to find Tyson leaned up against the wall. Due to the mantle being lit, Evren made out the faintest hint of steam wafting off the taller man's form as he shifted slightly. With his eyes closed, he appeared to be sleeping and not in the mood to say anything, a relief to the paler of the two.
Crossing the room, the leader took a seat on the floor and leaned against the wall. Allowing his gaze to wander, he took in the dusty sight before looking at the small stack of books that had been left not too far from him. Reaching over, he picked one up to see child-like scribbles marking the cover. Rolling his eyes mentally, he flipped through the blank pages, only coming to a halt as he saw a hand drawn picture.
Running his fingers over the old art work, he could tell it was drawn by a child. Studying the work of it, Evren allowed his gaze to go a bit lower as he noticed the faint lettering of words.
To Evren
From Calix
Feeling his brow knit together, Evren set the item down quickly. He then shoved it away before pulling his knees up to his chest. Resting his head on them, he closed his eyes slowly to focus on something else as he felt a mild throb on the left side of his head. When it didn't go away immediately, the man chewed the inside of his cheek.
Calix…Bringing his uninjured hand up, he touched the side of his head. "That name…"
Headache imminent, Evren reached down to retrieve an aspirin, simply to find he no longer had one. Grinding his teeth together, he lowered his brow onto his knees as he let out a shaky exhale. Shivering soon after, he cracked his eyes at the thought of being in wet clothes.
Get onto his feet, he took slow, measured steps but still managed to stumble over a loose floorboard and practically into the awaiting mantle.
The only thing that seemed to save him from being burned was the hand that had caught him by the wrist. Relieved, he hung his head once more, soaking in the heat being exuded prior to being pulled back and into something even warmer.
"Ty-"
"You were shivering," he replied, "and you should be more careful when you're around fire." Evren looked up at him. "You could get burned."
"Let go."
"No."
"That's an o-"
"An order, yeah. You seriously need to stop ordering me around," Tyson commented. "It gets real old real fast." Seeing how Evren had yet to move, he draped his arms along his shoulders, holding him even closer. "Besides, you're freezing. You'd get sick, ya know?"
"I can handle a cold, thanks."
"This coming from the one that gets reduced to trembling mess when he gets a headache."
Gritting his teeth, Evren shifted to elbow the man in the chest. Instead, he nearly jumped as he felt the raven's chin rest along the crook of his neck. His surprise didn't end there as the taller man began to weigh him down until he had to kneel to keep from toppling over. Even then, Tyson kept up at what he was doing until his leader uttered something under his breath about killing him in his sleep.
Finding the threat rather empty, he pressed a kiss along his neck before moving up to his cheek. Brushing the wet and colorless strands aside, Ty ran his tongue against a trail of water, smiling as the other shivered.
"Still cold, huh?"
Not bothering to wait for the answer, since Evren would've just denied everything anyway, Tyson pressed a kiss along the man's jawline before rubbing his hand along the other's arm. Being in wet clothes didn't quite faze him; what with the water practically evaporating the longer it stayed on his skin. Kissing his cheek once more, the raven slid his finger beneath the officer's chin and tilted his head towards him. Seeing what could've been the faintest trace of a blush in the dark, Ty leaned forward, watching as the other male's bottom lip quivered slightly before retreating a bit to press another kiss against the cold skin.
"T-Tyson."
Pausing, red eyes shifted upwards to see turquoise-colored eye staring down at him. Unsure if the color was darker due to the lack of light or something else, Tyson kissed a small patch of skin before nipping at it. Hearing his name again, he repeated the action, and much harder than the first before laving over the area with his tongue as if in apology.
Biting his tongue as another went over the bitten portion of flesh; Evren squeezed his eyes shut. With his more dominant hand indisposed, and the other now in the man's grasp once more, the smaller of the tried to pull his chin away as he the appendage run over his cheek, collecting the drops of water there. As he shivered again, he was unsure of if it was due to his clothes or if it was due to how familiar this had seemed.
"T-Ty…stop." There was a brief pause before the dark-haired man started up again. "Ty, wait."
Feeling another small bite, Evren tried turning his head in the opposite direction.
This felt too familiar.
His head was hurting and the little bites and licks weren't helping either.
"Stop."
"Why?" Tyson asked before admiring the dark mark marring the otherwise porcelain skin.
"Just-" He froze as he felt lips press against his pulse point. "Ty, stop."
"Why?"
"Please?" he asked. "I c-can't…I don't-"
"Evren-"
"Let go of me," he ordered as he bowed his head. "Let-"
"No."
"Let go."
Ev-"
"Let go."
"N-o," Tyson said as he brushed aside the damp tresses.
Seizing up, Evren curled in on himself as his breaths came out a bit heavier than before. Flinching under another kiss, he winced as it seemed to almost burn his skin before stifling the small sounds that began to creep up the back of his throat.
"Stop, please?"
"No."
Feeling the man tense up, Tyson smirked inwardly since he hadn't tried pulling away. Assuming that the man was just playing around, since he could've done something by now, Ty kissed his neck before looking up at the sound of lights flickering. Sitting up a bit, he set his sights on the ceiling to see the old bulbs blinking in their sockets. Seeing how this place had no electricity, he cocked his head to the side before feeling the hairs on the back of neck stand on end.
As he felt the smaller hairs on his arms starting to stand on end, Tyson slowly lowered his gaze to see ends of white hair starting to stand as well. Catching the low hum that was starting to fill the otherwise warm and damp air, Ty scowled before looking down at the one in his grasp.
"Evren."
Said person merely kept their head down as the lighting continued to flicker. Hearing the lights within the whole level flickering on and off, the raven tightened his hold along the slender wrist before pulling his hand away as he received a sudden shock.
Pulling his hand away, Tyson examined the small scorch like marks on his skin before sending a glare the man's way. Grabbing hold of his wrist once more, red eyes looked up to see the light growing ever brighter before the fuses went out, making the bulbs shatter as a result. At the same time, the man received an even greater shock making him withdraw from the other quickly.
Balance off for just a few seconds; Ty stared down at the smaller officer that was in the process of burying his face into his knees. When he went to approach him with all the current animosity he was feeling, the raven rethought that method as he watched the tiniest of sparks dance around the man before disappearing in the air. Seeing how this happened every time he took a step closer, he decided to keep his distance in the end and focus on the fire that was beginning to die down.
Taking a seat, and with enough distance between him and his leader, Tyson watched as the flames danced about the burning pit before noticing the small stack of books nearby. Grabbing one of them, he flipped through the pages before seeing a few drawings done by a child. Though it wasn't the same that Evren had looked at a few moments ago, dark eyes found the item amusing as he continued to flip through the pages, finding more and more of them. He saw some words scribbled down the aging pages and was surprised that they had lasted through the deterioration of the sector. Scanning over the last of the pictures, he started over to see if he had missed any before noticing the more legible words written along the corners.
To Evren
From Calix
Flipping through the pages a tad slower, he saw that the words had been written in almost every corner and on occasion, he'd see the reverse.
To Calix
From Evren
Going through a few more of the books, and earning the same results, Tyson glanced at the waning fire before throwing the old books in. Smirking to himself as he watched flames spring back to life, eating at the old manuscripts, he looked back over at his teammate to see him tottering slowly as if on the brink of sleep.
"Evren," he called as he reached over to tap the man, "hey-"
His hand jerked back the moment it was zapped. "Don't touch me," Evren said quietly as he raised his head by an inch. "Just…just don't touch me."
"But-"
"Just…just don't touch me," he repeated as he scrubbed his hand down his face. "I just can't…but…" Evren stopped to hold the side of his head before staring down at the floor. "It's just too many h-" Fisting the wet strands as he got to his feet, the officer squeezed his eyes shut. "But that name…"
"Calix?"
"I know it…I do, but-"
"Don't think about it," Tyson said as he got up. "Don't ever think about that name."
"But-"
Spinning the man around, the raven pushed him into the nearest wall and kept him pinned there as he disregarded the intensifying hum of power in the air. "Don't ever think of that name. Don't even say it."
He narrowed his eyes as the paler man looked elsewhere. "I know that name though."
"I don't care," Tyson groused as he pressed the smaller male into the wall a bit more. "Just don't think about it."
"Ty-"
"It gives you headaches, right? It's only foolish if you keep thinking about it." Mismatched eyes stayed focused on the on the remaining book left in the corner. "Look at me." He did not. "Look. At. Me," Ty ordered, shaking the officer with each word until he did so. "Don't, got it?"
"But-"
"No!"
Receiving a shock the moment he dug his nails a bit too deep into the man's shoulders, Tyson stepped back to watch Evren drop his head. As both heard the squadron car outside, spotting its headlights along the old ground, the raven signaled for his colorless counterpart to go on ahead. When he didn't move, Ty extended a hand, simply to yank it back as he witnessed the quick burst of what looked like a faint bolt of electricity reaching out to meet him. Growling under his breath, he slid a hand into his pocket though he didn't have to do anything as Evren took an uneasy step away from the wall and out the door into the rain.
Glancing at the tome in the corner, the remaining man walked over to retrieve it. Flipping through the pages, he scowled as he saw the pair of names and turned to throw the last book into the ever hungry flames. However, before he did the deed, he decided to tuck the thing under his arm as he made his way to the door. As the light coming from the hearth began to fade quickly, he glanced over his shoulder to watch the last of the embers die. Looking down at the book in his grasp, he then looked at the raining sky before climbing into the awaiting hover car.
"Yeah, they just left."
"I still can't believe you waited for them to leave before you came back. You're going to catch a cold."
"I'll be fine, Will. See you in about ten minutes."
Tapping the side of his shades, Renyx stepped out the building that had been across the street from the officers. Sliding down the glasses, ochre- colored eyes watched as the flying car disappeared from sight. Running a hand through his wet hair, the man then pulled out a damp cigarette and placed it in his mouth. Fishing out a lighter, he paused at the crack of lightning and the booming sound of thunder before turning on his heels.
Cutting through the alleyway, he came to a stop at a manhole covering. Stomping his foot down on the end, he nudged the lid aside with his foot, sparing the building the pair was in one more glance before climbing down into the sewer. Once the cover was back in place, the redhead pulled off his wet coat and wrung it out before draping it along his shoulder as he began to walk down the abandoned tunnel.
Grateful for the lighting provided by a certain female tinkerer, Renyx walked at ease before pausing to look back the way he had come.
"Such an odd pair," he said quietly and out of the blue prior to continuing on his way.
Listening to the pattering of rain from up above, the man pulled the wet cigarette from his mouth and flicked it into an adjacent tunnel. Seeing the ladder that would soon take him to the warehouse, he knocked his shoes against a nearby wall to get rid of the dirt before noticing some small letters carved with what looked like a knife the covered with marker.
Cal and Ren
Running his fingers along the old etching, Renyx felt a small scowl pull at the corners of his mouth.
He wasn't quite sure how had missed that.
Then again, this route wasn't one the redhead took often.
It actually belonged to "Cal…" the man said quietly before he transcended the ladder, "…how do you even know him?"743Please respect copyright.PENANATlNcmMT1xR
