(Btw Happy 14th Birthday @Ria N. Chetty . And also this is a surprise character,it could be any fictional or non-fictional character,also this is my first time writing in a contest,and I apologize if you don't know this character)
Mindlessly walking down the hallway to the living room,I yawned as I clutched the blanket that draped on my shoulders giving me the sense of comfort. I squinted at the object that was on the floor,my vision was blurry in the morning so on my first instinct I muttered "Intruder."
Unknown to me I didn't realize that what I thought was a 'Intruder" was actually my brother.The soft creaks that emitted from the wooden floorboards caused my older brother to groan in annoyance in his sleep. I slowly let my guard down and let out a sigh of relief when I found out it was my brother.
He was sprawled across the carpet with potato chips in his tangled hair and drool dripping from his mouth and onto the pillow he was hugging tightly.
Finally when I managed to see a clearer image,I quickly clamped my mouth close trying not to burst into laughter.
He looked like a zombie.
But sadly I couldn't contain my laughter any longer and fell on my knees laughing and shaking.My brother stirred awake and screamed "WHERE IS THE FIRE!!".He stopped screaming and looked around.He took a silent three seconds to take in all off the information and shot me a glare."What are you doing here Y/N?"
"I don't know I just woke up,anyways today is-"I quickly got interrupted.
"K,I'm gonna go out with the guys today you stay home today and do whatever you want...and don't think of disturbing me today,I will get very angry,and you know how I am when I'm angry"'He coldly stated shuffling himself up and turning his back on me heading for his bedroom.
I felt a pang of sadness in my heart,my head hung low as I quietly muttered "You...forgot my birthday...?"
"What was that?"his head poked out of the bedroom door,staring at me quizzically.
I only shook my head in response and sighed inaudibly as I heard the door slam behind me.
I didn't have the courage to tell him about this special day as I didn't want him to get mad.
I checked my phone to see is anyone at least texted me regarding my birthday.None.
The sound of the chiming bells rang in my ears when I pushed the glass door open.The entire atmosphere of the cafe had a nostalgic feeling to it,it almost felt surreal,I couldn't quite put a finger on it,I didn't know why.
I sat down on a tiny table for two next to the window that looked down upon the busy streets,my thoughts were then suddenly interrupted by the sound of the click of a pen coming from the waitress who was patiently stood beside me waiting for my order.
I managed to muster a few words saying "I'd like a black coffee....as dark as my soul" The waitress glanced up from her notepad ,raising one of her eyebrows giving me a questioning look.
She then walked away shaking her head while I turned back to once again looking out of the window.My thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of a throat clearing.I turned around to see the waitress handing me my cup of coffee,as I was about to reach out for my wallet to pay for the coffee,her hand stopped me.
"A man had already paid for your drink."
"Really who?"I perked my head up scanning my surroundings.She raised her index finger pointing at the young man.
He looked to be 20-ish,he wore a black shirt with a golden tail coat over it,and a black bow tie to accompany his formal look along with black trousers.He also seemed to have a weird taste in fashion,but not in a bad way.He had a black eye patch on one of his eyes and to top it off he wore a top hat.His hair colour topped it all,he had a side cut with his fringe colored yellow,not blonde
but ...
freaking yellow, like colour pencil yellow and the back part of the hair dark brown
Yet...he looked somewhat familiar.
(Just a side note,this is not a one-shot)
He looked up from the newspaper he was reading and glanced at me,he waved at me and smirked...I could only nervously smile back,my smile soon faltered when he stood up and headed my direction.
"Heya kid,mind if I join you?"He smiled down at me.There was something behind that smile that did not sit right and immediately gave me an uneasy feeling.
"S-sure"I stuttered back unsure of this man's true intentions.
"Woah,woah kid relax,I am not a kidnapper or anything"He held his hands up on his defense,trying to reassure me.But I wasn't buying it.
"How can I trust you,for all I know you could be a child predator and I'm just your next target?"I squinted at him giving a suspicious look.
"Jeez kid,I only decided to sit with you and pay your coffee is because you looked depressed,almost alike to a raccoon,no offense."
"No offense taken."
"Anyways kid why are you so upset?"He asked straightening his posture
"I don't want to talk about it" "No it's the fact that I don't want to share my birthday details with you "I thought as I took a sip from my coffee.
"I know it's your birthday kid."He stared blankly at me
'W-wait what?"I sputtered almost choking on my drink
"I know lot's of things kid."
"Hey stop calling me a kid,I'm-" "14"He finished my sentence.
"Just who are you anyways?How do you know all of these things?"My mind raced with questions spouting them out all at once.
"Funny kid you are,you sound almost just like Pine Tree"Even the way he talks sounds familiar,I was internally racking my brains trying to remember who he is until he stood up.
"Your going?"I asked
"Yup...and also"He turned facing my direction,the ticking of the clocks grew slower,footsteps stopped abruptly,people stopped eating with their utensils in midair,the surroundings turned gray scale,time froze in it's place except him and me.
His gentle smile turned into a maniacal grin as his pupils dilated" Remember! Reality's an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold! Byeeee! Oh and Happy Birthday Y/N!"He exclaimed teleporting out to the entrance.
"Waaitt!What is your name?"I quickly yelled before he could disappear.
He slowly stopped in his tracks,he turned around and gave a mischievous grin.
"The name's Bill.Bill Cipher."
