"Grace! Feeling better? Come here dear" My dad came to me and lead me to the dark brown leather couch to sit in the middle between mom and Anna (my grandmother) then he stood behind the couch putting one of his hands on either of my mom and my shoulder for support to now facing family lawyer
"What's going on?" what are they doing?
"Miss Grace, I am sorry for your lost...ours ...but now since you are here we can start reading the will"
"What?!" I said in shock looking around me WHAT THE HELL
"It was Joeseph's wish my lady they are just respecting what he asked for" Philip answered who now he is standing next to the locked door
"Right now?" I said looking at him I mean the guy didn't have his funeral...YET
"Yes, he demanded that we read his will just after his death as fast as possible" the lawyer answered me which made me turn back to look at him
"For him" my mother said so I nodded but I could smell something fishy
"Now as all the family is present the read of Mr. Joeseph Maxwell's will starts:
Hellooo everyone! It's so nice to have all your attentions hhhh... just joking
First, to my dear Jane I am terribly sorry to leave you my baby girl..."
"I am not a baby anymore dad my daughter has passed my high" my mom cut him she always yell back like this when Joe tells her she is his baby girl, that made the corner of my mouth twist while looking at my mother letting some tears fall down her cheeks and not true we have the same high
The lawyer cleared his throat and continued
"...and don't say you're not you always had been in my eyes to that I may owe you an apology because I'm sure I have messed up in some moments with some acts of mine...I hope you forgive me and I hope I have been a kind of a father that you wanted I know I could have done better to think of it now...after your mother and my beautiful wife Seraphina's death I did all that I could to raise you feeling less hurt and sadness and mostly left alone but now even with me leaving I am secure that you are around a wonderful people and your pretty and precious family and Thomas will take care of you, he always had and always will for sure.........."
The lawyer read all the will which was my grandfather's last words we all kept silent except for some whining and cries now and then from my mother and Anna but I didn't cry and I don't know why... NO! actually, I do! I couldn't as if someone had sucked-up all the tears from my eyes so I only sit there and I barely listen to what the lawyer was saying because he started talking about the properties and staff, grandpa gave his company to my mother which already dad was his partner and other houses and hotels to me and mom and he gave Anna the spa that she always begged him to sale it for her and other staff to my dad I am not sure I wasn't really paying attention like I said
"Are we done?" my mom asked the lawyer with tiredness, she just what this nightmare to ends
"Not quietly, the next part is for Miss Grace only, he had let you other staff..." he said looking at me, what is it now? I don't care about all this I have enough properties I really need nothing just him...
"He didn't mention this on his will but he had asked for it from me presently with the witnessed of Mr. Philip Marline" he looked at him and we did the same, they nodded to each other then the lawyer looked back at me "he wants miss grace to move to his mansion somewhere in Colorado that now it belongs to her to live there for a year or more if she wants to, alone by herself and none of the family members are permitted to accompany her also there is a letter from him" he said
"WHAT?!" I said standing heading to him
"Explain please!" my dad said holding my confused mother
"The letter" I expanded my hand for him
He stands up and looked at me "unfortunately miss grace I have orders that I can't hand it to you until you get there along with the rest of what he asked me for"
This so a test of his but you know what Joe I am done I had enough, I insisted with my hand not letting a word...GIVE IT
He looked behind my shoulder at Philip for permission that he gave because he handed that letter to me
I couldn't read it because I was trapped by the first sentence of it that has caused me to only reading it like a crazy for 6 or 7 times I drooped my arm letting it hanging by my side and let the letter drop from my hand
"He said I won't attend his funeral "I was shocked he said 'I'm not sorry for forbidding you from attending my funeral Grace' that part of the letter that took my mind...WHY? Why I can't?! I didn't read the rest; I start to feel some weakness in all over my body but No! I can't! so many emotions in one moment I haven't experienced something like this for so... so long but it wasn't this strong or... hurtful
"Yes, you have to leave right away my lady" Philip answered
"Why?!" I asked without looking at him but he didn't answer so I asked again but nothing
I turned around to face him to find my dad by my side and mom now was standing thanks to Anna
"Why? No, she is not going anywhere, my daughter is going nowhere especially without me" my mom said
"Jane honey let's not rush things out" I looked at him with a grimace, is he serious? Is this man my father? ...no really because usually, he's overprotective 'OVER'
"As Mr. Pane said its Joe's orders and Miss Grace have to obey if not we have to take an action" my eyes winded, what did I do? Why?
"okay" my dad agreed and my mom was about to start yelling at him I never saw them fighting and I wasn't planning to especially for me, deciding that I had enough rubbish from all of this I yelled "FINE!" and streamed out of the office to my room with all the eyes following me

I start packing only the necessary things, I will leave in 30mn ALONE get to that place to see what is his plan and get back before the funeral tomorrow morning and I think there is no funeral he is just hiding there and he wants a cover...did something happened? I need to know, I mean why I can't even say my goodbye for him why I can't see him for the last time I'm sure there is something behind this
"I knew you would think of that "my grandmother entered my room to cut me packing I really didn't hear her coming
"Yeah ...?" it was more like a question
I really don't know what to say should I lie?
"I know you aren't so patient to leave with Philip later at night so here" she said giving me some money then quickly said
"I will cover you up since I'm sure you won't let me come with you...be careful this is all that I could do SINCE I let my car keys in my house" she's smart she knew I can't take mine AND... I can't take her's too, she lives down the neighborhood but I don't have time.
"I do have but thank you and don't worry I called for a taxi I will head to the airport get there to find the address and come back by tomorrow and you don't need to worry about me I will be just fine" I said then hugged her and kissed her cheek, moving around the room and finishing my packing while she just following me with her eyes
"I wonder what that old crazy man was thinking he's full of surprises, "she said and her arms crossed over her
"Is that has a thing about the spa?" I asked with devilish smile stealing a glance at her from the corner of my eyes while changing my clothes
She let out an angry sigh and started moving to the window looking at the ocean
"He always liked to tease me I begged him for so long and I even let him decide the price, crazy old man ahh! is that because you have fun with me more than you did with him, what is my fault if I am cooler than him" she said while playing with her hands in the air, and small pout on her face, I know is not the good time but small chuckle found her way to me.
I still can remember when I was little how they used to fight over me and the winner can take me out or spend time with me, they used to argue for hours until one day my dad had enough and made a schedule saying that he didn't have his time with me because of both of them I was only 6 and it was funny I missed those days.
The taxi came and I had sneaked out of the house from the back door thanks to Anna who dismissed the grads to have a dinner break and convincing them that she would make sure I won't leave my room

F*** I have reached the airport and guess what! Thanks to my luck there's some atmospheric disturbances so all the flights are delayed for unknown, I looked at my phone no missing calls they haven't found out yet wow I'm surprised maybe I still have some luck after all, it's 9:14 pm but I can't wait if I did I will lose it, I hate when I feel useless or powerless so I decided to take the bus I mean how long it takes from CA to CO buy bus 7...8 hours it's okay I can make it.
