There are ghost stories of the monsters, folk tales describing hideous creatures hunting for blood. Edith never believed any of the stories. She was a child of science, her father one of the only doctors around. She grew up traveling the wastelands seeing things that taught her the world was scarier than folk tales.
But then she sees it. And there's no turning back as she's shoved into a world where monsters are alive and breathing; a world where her science might not be able to protect her from the horrors that a crippled world intends to hide.
