Sun behind the Mountains

The sun sets behind the mountains,

The day comes to an end.

The ocean’s tide waves and pushes deeply

Up the river, around its bend.

I yearn to see what’s on the farther side,

Up where the sun sets behind the mountains.

To still the waves of tears I cried

Since you left this walk of life.

Your journey took you beyond mountains,

Further than the sun can set.

A place I can never get to;

At least, not as yet.
