Behind this exterior

Behind this icy exterior

I block myself from the world.

My barricade of body parts

Against the world I face.

I see you, I watch you,

From near or far.

Waiting for whatever comes,

Judging whatever does come.

This is for my protection,

As much as it is for you.

Even though I’ve bared it all

It doesn’t mean I trust you.

I cover up just enough

To see what comes my way.

Giving me enough time to prepare

My antisocial response.
