The splattering of seasons

This tree has seen,

How eventful

It must have been:

The sun, the blue, the rain,

The green leaving in the tree,

The joyousness of summer,

All the living one can see;

Then the culling of autumn, winter,

Oblivion of snow and sleet.

We all strive to stay moving, warm

Above the chilling at our feet.

The brightest hues of colour in a tree

Are those painted from memory.
