60 years from now:
I am lying on my sofa, reading a book, when my granddaughter comes in and tells me how incredibly engrossed she was in reading the complete Shadowhunter chronicles that I gave her this semester that she forgot that her exams start the next week. How proud I am of my very own spawn’s spawn. Laugh Out Loud! What? Don’t look at me like that young lady. We used to say that as frequently as we breathed in our times. What shame it is we can’t use it as much now.
“You know Grams, my friends and I raced to the pizza parlor today. Whoever reached the last had to pay. Gracie lost! I knew that girl could never run to save her life.”
“Well, my child, when I was young, my friends and I too raced for the bakery downtown. But, instead of paying the bill, the loser had to seductively kiss the pastry, not to mention with extra sound effects. Haha! Your mommy is a little grumpy about this talk but who cares? I knew all the slangs and tricks of confusing the hell out of people when I was your age. I -- ” I felt this sharp pain in my chest like someone was trying stab breadsticks dipped in wasabi sauce in my heart made of cheese. I knew it was time for me to go.
