I follow Edmunds' footsteps and go inside Tessin Palace. As the second son, I never went inside of the palace except for a few Christmas occasions, but of course, I don’t find interest at all, so usually ride on the horse and claim my leg hurts too much – old wounds is a good old excuse. Eventually, I never came back.
“Things change a lot, do they?” He asked. “There’s a fire 2 years ago, almost bloody kill me. And we have to redecorate everything.”
“I see the newspaper,” I reply. “Though I care little about people’s definition of art.”
“Hans, I invite you not to embarrass me.”
“True, I’m just saying I cannot understand these Bohemia art styles. Perhaps the Russians would love them.”
“Fair enough, let’s go through this quick then.”
He stops at a fancy door decorated with silver linings and a gold Fedualismus symbol.
“Please tell my father that his second son is waiting for him.”
“I will, my Prince.”
We stand at the front door firmly and wait. Which to my surprise we don’t need to stand too long.
As I open the door, he tapes his cigarette in his glass ashtray. The smoke is filled within the room. He looks at us, and point at the chairs. He's an old man alongside his power - smart, cautious, and cruelty. His uniform shines under the sun behind his curtains. And I starts to see why Edmund finds difficulty following his fathers' footsteps yet refuses to give up.
"You wish to see me, father?" The young prince asks, smiling.
"Yes, I haven't seen you for some time," he puts down the document on his hand. "So I want to see if you do well at Munchen."
"And I guess, you are Hans, right? My son mentions you a couple times."
"That's correct, my highness."
He nods. "Edmund, how's your work in Munchen?"
"It's alright, father. With the expansion of our machine guns factory. Our equipment will be steady shortly."
"Good," He takes out two cigarettes and hand to us. Edmund takes it and I decline it.
"What do you see in the future, my son?"
"War," the prince replies as he lit his cigarette. "That will leave with massacres, those Iris will not stand a chance."
"True, yet caution is still required, we've learned a valuable lesson before," I noted. "We must learn from our ancestors, no matter it's their glory or disgrace."
The king nod. "I guess this is the reason my son brings you here, unlike his elder brother bring a whore in my castle."
"Father, I want to ask one question."
"Speak."
"What makes our ancestors and you a great King? What can I do to help the king restore his glory in Democratie?"
I look at him. Edmund is, without doubt, a wise person. Yet he often cannot hold his thoughts.
The king look at me, and giggles. "You can teach him that later." and looks at his son. "Let me tell you a story."
