Please don’t be mad at me. I thought this through. Tomorrow, on the first day of the year 2673, the Grand Prince’s men would execute one hostage. The second day of the New Year, they would execute the next, and so on. Until we surrendered. Their security is top-notch, and we can do nada from this spaceship we’re onto.
The Grand Prince doesn’t know that there’s two of us, though. He doesn’t know that there are two people in whose veins runs the blood of the rightful heir to the Galactic throne. If one of us was gone… If one of us died, he would think that the rebellion is over. That we surrender. He will release the hostages… Mavis, we are talking about 300 souls, they have families to return to. There are people waiting for them in agony. So, seeing the heir dead, he will release the hostages, his troops will receive orders to withdraw and he will rest on his laurels.
That will be the right time for you to strike, take him down once and for all and put an end to his dictatorship.
Mavis, I want you to know, that even in the middle of this war, I was a happy man. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I had the chance to do good and save people, multiple times. What more can one want to be happy? I also had you. I love you. I truly believe there is nothing we can’t do if we work together and I'm so proud of what we've accomplished. Even if you get on my nerves sometimes, you’re my little sister. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. You will be a kind and just ruler, I am sure of it.
I have chosen not to say goodbye, but write a letter instead, because you won’t let me go if you suspect what I’m about to do.
