We took our private jet to O'hara international in Chicago for our connecting flight to South Africa. As we walked through the massive airport, Varden took the opportunity to educate the other women with us on the namesake of the busiest flight path on earth.
We weren't headed towards the commercial gates; we had a private jet standing by big enough to travel from Chicago to South Africa with only one stopover in Atlanta for fuel. Now you might ask how we could just order up a deluxe seven forty-seven on a moment's notice. Well, when you're as old as Damaris is and over your lifetime you saved certain objects and everyday ideas from that very long life. Then you sold them after a thousand years you become very wealthy.
Just imagine saving a year's worth of the change from your pocket. What if you collected your pocket change for a year, put it in a jar and buried it? Then after a thousand years you dug up that jar, how much money would you have? Damaris had thousands of those jars. One coin from the ancient Roman empire would be enough to more than finance this flight. That's the kind of money Damaris had to play with, so getting a jumbo jet at a moment's notice really wasn't that hard.
An airport guard opened a side door onto the tarmac and the ten of us slipped out and into the dark night air. The plane was just rolling to a stop about three hundred yards from us, so we all hurried to board without being seen by anyone. We approached, the staircase was pushed into place, and we were all on board with the plane rolling all within three minutes.
Varden stopped the instant he stepped onboard. He was the last to board so the crew member that shut and latched the door had to push him out of the way.
"What kind of plane is this?" He asked open mouthed.
"This is a very specially modified seven forty-seven. It was completely gutted, and the interior rebuilt to move select passengers." I told him. Grabbing his hand, I led him towards the rear of the huge main cabin.
Instead of row upon row of seats shoved together in order to pack humans in like flying cattle. This plane had very few seats, and the ones it did were more like recliners than the straight-backed seats found in most airliners.
"If you would all take your seats and strap in we will begin our flight." The voice of the pilot came over the cabin speaker softly.
We both took our seats against the rear wall and buckled ourselves in. After one of the few crew members had inspected our belts and called to the pilot that everyone was seated properly, the plane began our take-off run.
Forty minutes later and we were high enough for the pilot to turn off the seat belt sign and we were free to move around.
"Come on," I grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet.
I led him through a door in the rear wall and into a large room. In the far side there was a door that led to the bathroom, but in the main room there was only a single thing that matter, a bed. Large, flat and oh so inviting.
"Now I think I'm going to enjoy this flight." Varden dove onto the bed and on his back splayed out. "Wow this bed is awesome, I knew I needed a nap for some reason."
"Ahem," I called his attention, and he lifted his head to look at me. "Do you think we're going to use this flight for sleep," I slipped my shirt and bra off in the same motion. "I don't think so."
"Okay fine," he said as he began to unzip and unbutton his pants. "I guess I'll just have to do my husbandly duty and please my wife." I slid in beside him as he pulled his shirt over his head.
"You poor baby, the things you to put up with as a married man." I giggled, playing with his chest hair.
"I know, it's almost criminal what you put me through sometimes." he pulled me to him, his hands going to my waist.
"Now put out young man, or do I have to find someone with a little more experience to satisfy me?" I asked, gazing down into his eyes.
"I'll try not to disappoint." he pulled me down into a bruising kiss.
We didn't even realize the passing of time until there came a knock on the door signalling our arrival in Atlanta.
"Wow, that went fast." I gasped, my head coming out from under the covers for the first time in a long time.
"At least we don't have to worry about finding our clothes." Varden groaned. "This room isn't that big, they've got to be here somewhere."
Minutes later we both slipped out of the room and belted ourselves back in. The other women of our group were already in the seats and ready for decent before we even exited the room. Each one of them gave me a knowing wink as I sat down. They were surprised when I neither blushed nor turned from the gaze. Why should I be embarrassed, I had nothing to be embarrassed about? So, I held each one of their gazes until they looked away.
We landed, refueled without anyone leaving the plane except the crew then we were back in the air for the longest part of our journey. This time we didn't sneak back into our room, as much as I wanted to, we needed to plan.
"Once we link up with Zhao's people, it's Chunhua's show. We follow her lead unless she gives us suspect orders. But remember, our main objective is to find out what we're facing and rescue as many of our sisters as possible.
"But why are we having to follow her orders at all?" Abigail asked. She was a tall woman with a slim build and shortcut black hair. Talk within the Sanctuary was that she was next in line to be our weapons master. So she was a natural selection for a mission like this.
"We know you killed a fully changed werewolf, by yourself. If anyone should be leading this mission, it's you." A hearty round of agreements came from the other women that were with us.
"I'm not in the lead because it would cause far too much infighting between us and Zhao's people. Would you have been able to take orders from me before you saw with your own eyes what I can do?" Several of the woman dropped their heads.
"This is the best play, as long as Zhao's women don't try to object to my presence too much this should work well."
"Now ladies, we are in for a long flight, is there anything we can do, to while away the time until we hit African soil?" All ten of them looked at him with narrowed eyes, then to me.
"Okay, forget I asked that. I meant something out here," again the raise eyebrows. These women didn't care where they were, they just wanted him.
"Okay ladies, enough drooling." I grabbed him by the collar and dragged him over for a kiss. "He's mine, and none of you can have him."
