** (Edom, Log 22 – Age 4155) **
A couple hundred millennia’s ago when the world was young and the dust still unsettled, three cosmic beings came into being. Light, shadow and the in-between, also called chaos, or nothingness. Their raw minds couldn’t grasp reality of what was happening around them, or why were there only flying raw chemicals and darkness.156Please respect copyright.PENANATgYeJgKxP9
But as time passed the nature of light started to shine down upon the massive patches of darkness in the great emptiness, thus giving life to bursts of explosions which triggered the sparks of creation to take fruit.156Please respect copyright.PENANAAP2gL3js7T
For the first couple of thousands of years the shadow stood watch without lifting a finger. The great ethereal entity chose to live in solitude at the farthest corners of the great emptiness, dwelling into secret machinations of which neither the light, nor the chaos knew of.
Thus in a matter of coming millions of years, the shadow managed to bring life to a different world, a totally separate dimension of reality from that by now ruled and populated by the light’s primordial experiments.
They had no power over one another, thus they couldn’t just stop the light from bringing life into the shadow covered territories or vice-versa. And on the other hand, the chaos had no intention of stepping between the two, since the majority of the unending space around them, was all left for him to rule and do whatever he pleased with.
The shadow, by now managed to completely separate itself from the lands covered in the light’s embrace, creating a vast and possibly unbound by space world, which the entity named “the Underworld”. And not because it was filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish landscapes. But because it was situated a layer of reality under the one made by its counterpart, the light.
No one in existence saw the primordial worlds, but it is said between both civilizations, the ones coming from the shadows and the light, that they represent the pinnacle of everything that exists. Thus, the name Hell for the kingdom of shadows, and Heaven for the one made by the light.
Not much is known, nor it has been written about the chaos, since the entity didn’t do anything significant to stick out in front of his siblings, but one time he decided he should try and do something similar to that of his brother and sister.
And so, Edom was born.
A totally different world, from both the ones previously specified; a world filled with the unimaginable and the unthinkable. A world in which the laws of nature probably present in the world of the light didn’t apply. A world where time itself didn’t quite work the same as it should have been.
But as the chaos created Edom, in a subsidiary layer to that made by the shadow, he left out a minor flaw. Edom didn’t have a large number of sister planets or solar systems, nor it was a galaxy, or a cluster of galaxies. Edom was just Edom. A large, but solitary world, which over the course of time suffered from both degradation and decimation.
Its first inhabitants, lived, evolved and died over the course of a couple million years, until their star which was placed by the chaos, just close enough to offer them warmth and the possibility of life, imploded. It ran out of its course, and along with its own death, it brought death to everything living over and under the surface of Edom.
The Chaos didn’t bother to recreate what was destroyed, but decided to leave the world as it was. And in time, the imploded sun, morphed itself into a White Dwarf, a fraction of the magnificence it was before. And with the little remaining light, and whatever warmth the hollow star managed to create, life began appear on Edom once again, but in a totally different form than before. Nightmarish creatures appeared over the course of the long years, adapting to the always cold and dark world. They evolved, and eventually became something more, which led to a separation between them. Those willing and powerful enough to sustain themselves and climb the ladder of power remained in the upper half of the planet, and began calling themselves Demons; and those who weren’t so fortunate or were born weaker and couldn’t become stronger, were cast out and cursed to live on the even darker side of the planet, bound to become monsters of their own making.
Three individuals stood out from all this cataclysmic separation. Three powerful individuals who rose up from the ashes of their civilization and took the wheels of the Northern demons, becoming their leaders, and also their pillars of evolution.
They were called the Triarchs; and they shaped the empire of Edom into being. They built and shaped the great Nightborn cities and drove back the monstrosities which lurked in the southern borders. And when their times came, they refused to die.
Taking advantage of all the technological advancements their flourishing newly built civilization had managed to develop over the course of their millennial rule, they were put into stasis pods and buried into a colossal building built at the very edge of the world. And they lay dormant since, carrying with them their crowned name, The Kings of Edom.
Present
I woke up with my ears ringing chaotically. There was some sort of white noise lingering around me as I forced myself to open my eyes. I felt every inch of my new body sore, and aching. But to my surprise I couldn’t feel the wound I’ve felt before. As I opened my eyes, I didn’t recognize the place.
There was light, a lot of light but I couldn’t feel the stench of death. I wasn’t down in the morgue anymore. And as I touched the soft surface under my right palm, I realized I’ve been laying in a bed all this time. In a hospital bed.
Forcing my slowly recovering body to sit up, I started questioning all the scenarios which could have or did happen during the period of time in which I blacked out.
Did anyone find me, him, alive down in the morgue? And if they did, how could they explain their finding? I mean, he died in a car crash. They saw that. Everyone saw that. An entire nation, or maybe two saw that.
Was I placed in some sort of quarantine? Or was this considered a miracle? And was I about to get swarmed by the guy’s parents and doctors, and whatnot?
All I knew, was that I had to gather my strength and stand up from this bed and move. I wasn’t planning on going to live a normal teeenager life. I had a purpose here on this world, and I didn’t have any time to waste playing house.
But as I mustered myself to finally move and touch the cold ground with my bare feet, the door opened, and there they were. Everyone I thought I’d avoid, or try to avoid; with their faces completely shadowed by confusion, happiness and shock. All of them…focused on me.
