"Ricky, wake up."
I suddenly heard a faint male voice calling my name. I wasn't sure who was calling my name, but I didn't really care. All I cared about was sleeping in some more so I turned on my side and proceeded to ignore the voice.
"Ricky, wake up!" The voice shouted.
I sighed then opened up my eyes and looked up to see Roscoe hovering over me. I stared at him, wondering why he's on my bed right now.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"I want to go out and have breakfast." He said then got off the bed.
I groaned then rubbed my eyes before sitting up in my bed. I slowly looked around the room and realized that i'm not back home and that this isn't my room. Now I remember. We're currently staying in Hawaii for summer vacation and today is our first full day of being here. I smiled brightly then hopped out of the bed and walked over to the balcony's door. I looked outside and saw the massive ocean and the palm trees. Suddenly, I couldn't wait to get the day started.
I quickly stripped myself of my pjs and threw on a black and white striped long sleeve shirt and black shorts. I slipped my feet into my sandals then proceeded to get rid of my bed hair.
"Ricky! Hurry up!" Roscoe shouted.
"I'm coming!" I shouted back then finished up my hair before walking out of the room.
Me and Ricky headed down to the hotel's lobby then walked outside.
"By the way, where's mom and dad?" I asked.
"They left earlier to go sight seeing. They said we're free to do whatever we want as long as we don't get into trouble." He said.
"Ah." I said, nodding.
Me and Roscoe headed over to a nearby breakfast café and ordered some breakfast. I ordered bacon and waffles while Roscoe ordered pancakes and sausages. We both ate silently for a moment before I started speaking up.
"I'm thinking about joining a class at the hotel." I said.
"A class?" He asked.
I nodded as I took a bite out of my waffle. "Yeah. Alana told us yesterday that the hotel has classes for people to join for free. She said they had a pottery class, an art class, a music class and ect. I'm thinking about joining pottery. Wanna join with me?" I asked.
Roscoe shook his head. "Nah. I was thinking about trying to see if I can get some surfing lessons."
"Oh." I said, sadly then nodded and continued to eat.
To be honest, I felt a little sad that Roscoe prefers to do something else. We normally do everything together. Well, almost everything, but I respect that he wants to do something different. Pottery doesn't seem like the type of thing he'll do anyways.
Eventually, we both finished up breakfast before parting ways to check out the different activities around town. I went back to the hotel and walked off to the side of the hotel where they have a building for classes. I walked into the building and looked around till I saw the pottery room.
I went inside and looked around, seeing a whole bunch of hand made pottery stuff. It seemed pretty cool and I couldn't wait to get my hands dirty, but first, I have to see if there's a teacher around.
I cleared my throat and began to call out.
"Um...excuse me! Is there anybody here?" I called out.
"Yes. Hello." A voice quickly said.
I looked around and noticed a guy emerging from the back room of the classroom. He walked up to me and I had to look up because he's taller than me.
"Oh. Hello. Is this the pottery room?" I asked.
The guy nodded then smiled. "Yes. I'm Jasper Lee. I'm the teacher here for the pottery class."
I blinked my eyes, surprised that he's a teacher because he doesn't look like a teacher. He looks a little too young.
"Oh. You're the teacher? You seem pretty young." I noted.
Jasper chuckled then nodded. "Yeah. I guess so. Not all the teachers that work in this building are old so..."
"Oh!" I suddenly blushed. "Sorry..."
Jasper shrugged. "It's no big deal. Anyways, if you're curious, i'm nineteen."
"Oh...Wow. You're older than I thought."
Jasper grinned. "Really? How old did you think I was?"
I shrugged. "I dunno...I thought that you were at least still in high school, but you're not huh?"
Jasper shook his head. "Nah. What about you? You seem pretty young."
I nodded then started fiddling with my friendship ring. "I'm going to enter my Junior year this fall."
"Ah. I see." He said, nodding then he looked down.
I narrowed my eyebrows in confusion then looked down myself, wondering what he's looking at.
"Oh, sorry. I'm looking at that ring on your finger." He said, pointing.
"Oh." I looked at my ring and smiled. "It's bread with jelly on it."
Jasper smiled. "I can see that. Anyways, you're just in time for class because it's about to start in a minute." He said then walked around the classroom to set up.
"Oh. Cool. Do you get many students?" I asked, following him around.
"Yeah. Typically around twenty. Maybe more."
"Wow." I said, amazed. "That's a lot. Everybody on this island loves pottery huh?"
Jasper nodded. "You can say that. Anyways, just take a seat while we wait for the students to get here okay?"
I nodded then walked over to a random seat at a random table and sat down.
"So...what are the ages of your students?" I asked.
"Most of them are in their twenties, but I also get some that are in their teens and then a few that are younger." He explained.
"Cool." I said, smiling.
"So, what makes you want to do pottery?" He asked.
I shrugged. "I dunno. I guess I just wanted to do something fun. I kinda want to make something."
Jasper nodded. "I hear ya. I'm the same way. I love making stuff out of clay."
I smiled softly as I listened to Jasper. He seems pretty cool and I can see us becoming good friends while i'm staying here for the summer. Plus, it's a relief that he's only nineteen and not thirty or something. That would be awkward. I sighed then started looking around the classroom again. Though, I still kinda wish Roscoe would've join me.
I wonder what he's doing right now...
