There was a boy I met that had a story to tell; from where i didn't know but I knew it was about him. He told me something I never thought could be true but I listened and I'm glad I did. I see now that I was almost too late, much longer and he might not be where he is today.
He is stronger, and is completely loved. He is everything I knew he could be from the day I first spoke to him. I only wish he saw in himself what I and many others saw. We saw just how perfect he was, and I would always see that no matter what.
Maybe one day he will see it and realize just what I have always seen in him. He is amazing and lovable and I wouldn't trade knowing him for anything in the world. I am honestly scared that one day I will lose him because he feels too imperfect.
That is one thing I fear and something I will always fear because of the true story he told me. His life was hell then salvation came, someone got him to safety and that's how I met him. A shy boy not much older than me, I was fairly shy myself but was working on making friends even if just over the internet to start. He trusted me and told me a bit of his life and since then we've talked every day. And every day I learn more about him and just how much I love him.
He tells his story in bits and pieces but if I hadn't listened that first day.... would he be here today? Would I? I don't know and I would prefer not to think of the negative because that is the farthest thing from what happened.
I listened to him, he told me what he was comfortable telling me. I shared a bit about myself that day too. not much but enough to know I would care and help best I could. I have never not listened to him because who knows, the time you don't listen could be the time he decides to never share again because he thinks you don't care.
Never ignore someone telling their story. Who knows, maybe one day they will be the person you are dating or married to. Its important to always listen to a person no matter what and then they will listen to you too.
