France, 1824. Young Louis Braille has invented a reading system for the blind, but there is another man, Captain Charles Barbier, who claims that HE has invented Braille, and will stop at nothing until Louis has been killed. Now Dr. Smith is faced with a dilemma. Should he interfere with history and save Louis' life... or let history take its course, and chance that a reading system for the blind never gets invented?
