Soon the world fell silent, no longer the birds sang, no longer the wind howled. It was like the time stopped. The only sound was my heart beginning to pound. He was close. The Prince was here to save his princess.
Arya noticed this too. She started to struggle against the ropes that bind her, trying to fix her smudged makeup, neatened up her once perfectly groomed blonde hair, and straighten up her impossibly poofy pink dress and diamond tiara. She was failing miserably.
Suddenly the window was flung open throwing me across the room, a beautiful boy with flowing brown hair, chiselled jaw and strong build climbed over the window sill. The Prince rose and his deep chocolate eyes swept the room, straight away spotting his princess illuminated in the sunlight the open window let in. I mean how could he not, her damned dress stood out like a beacon. However, once he acknowledged her, instead of rushing to her side and stealing true loves kiss, his eyes continued to scan the room. I snap back into reality and watch as the Prince and his princess exchange confused looks, she shrugs and he looks back at me. Now staring at me, his eyes bore into mine I notice his face isn't exactly flawless. He has a dimple on his right cheek and there are lines on his forehead and bruises under his eyes, evidence of sleepless nights searching for Arya.
Arya of course. The Prince is here for her, and I, being the witch. Must defeat him. I began chanting a spell, his eyes still locked on mine, his slightly confused look changes to one of shock and another strange emotion I haven't ever seen flashes through his eyes. Whatever the expression, it soon changed as his instincts took over and he reached for his sword. Before he drew it however he froze and did something strange. Something that terrified me. Making me completely unable to do anything except just stand there and stare. Was this fear or possibly something else?
The Prince didn't draw his sword, hold it to my neck or demand me to surrender. Neither did he try attacking me, or attempted to save his princess and run away. He did nothing a normal prince-a hero from my textbooks- would do.
Instead, he removed his hand from the hilt of his sword and just stood there. Looking slightly dazed but completly happy. Staring directly into my eyes Arya's saviour smiled.
