Dear Nobody
Where do I even start? I address this to you because all my life I've been told that nobody cares, so I'm seeking you out , to ask for your help.
Look around, and whst do you see? Do you see neighbors fighting neighbors? Do you see the hatred shown toward those who look, think, or act differently from us? Or do you choose to turn a blind eye as so many others choose to do?
Why do you play the blame game for some but not others. If all Muslims are bad people because of ISIS and the September 11th attacks on the twin towers, they why are not all Christians bad because of the crusades? Are all Germans to blame for Hitler and the Holocaust? Are all white men racist because some of them formed the KKK? Are all African American men unjustly treated by police just because some are? Or are we as a society just seeking someone to blame?
And, Nobody, since you're the only one who cares, help make a stand against bbullying, because not one person deserves to be ridiculed, mistreated, or abused by peers to the point of wanting to take their own life, or slide a silver blade across their wrist until the blade and skin are stained with crimson. Those who learn slower, suffer from some kind of disability, or who choose not to fit in with the social norm shouldn't have to face negative reactions for things beyond our control. But most times, when I point it out, I'm told that Nobody cares, so maybe you can do something.
Since you are the only one I know who cares, perhaps you could be a friend to those battling mental illness, or some sort of disorder. Maybe you could protect those being abused, those who are unloved, struggling, or different. Could you be there for a few special friends of mine? They're in a rough spot. You know who they are, since you seem to care about them a lot. They've faced abuse, their own minds, depression, so many battles, so please care for them so that someone will.
I won't ask you to care about my writing, or my own battles, but instead care for my friends who say nobody cares about them. I won't pretend it doesn't sting, and its easier to believe they are referring to you. So help my friends with their struggles, the ones they think nobody cares about. And help those I don't know, those who can't speak for themselves, and those who are looking for you, because when no one else cares, you do.
And Nobody, thank you for caring when there wasn't a single person alive who would. I know you're out there, and you must be famous and mighty busy for caring about all these people. Thank you.
