I looked at her after my family had left, sitting on a chair beside my bed. 

"Alice please don't do that again," I whispered, not expecting her to hear. 

She looked at me bemused. 

"Don't do what?" she asked. 

"Don't come late," I told her, keeping my face serious. 

A large smile appeared on her face as she took my hand in hers. 

"I can't control how early or late my class finishes Leo. But I promise I'll do my best not to be late again."

I smiled back at her as I heard her promise. 

It felt very nice having someone like Alice in my life. 

Suddenly, I felt myself cry out as pain passed through my body. 

I couldn't tell where it was but I knew I felt something. 

Beads of sweat started to crowd around my forehead as the pain intensified. 

"Leo are you alright?" Alice asked, jumping out of her seat. 

"I don't know."

And it was true; I didn't know if I was alright or not. 

I honestly couldn't tell. 

She ran out of the room, shouting for help. 

I closed my eyes in an attempt to deal with the pain;

But my attempt was feeble. 

Another cry left my mouth. 

Why was this suddenly happening to me? 

A doctor appeared before me, worry covering his face. 

He called for a nurse and two appeared. 

They tried to get me to stay still. 

But the pain made it hard to remain in the same position. 

"I was afraid this would happen," the doctor's deep voice resonated around the room. 

"What is it doctor?" I heard Alice ask. 

Alice. 

I reached out to her. 

But I couldn't reach her. 

Before I could say anything, 

Darkness clouded my vision.
