Rome, O' Rome-
What great weight thee holds
Thy name carries into legend,
And legend unto myth.

From Carthage to Greece,
You have triumphed all
Thine conquests are numerous,
As the stones the sea holds.

Of a republic you came,
To an empire you went
From your kings of old,
To your emperors of now.

But beneath thine surface,
Lies a layer of rust
For all your glory and riches,
Came by cost of blood.

Rome, O' Rome-
What great weight thee holds
Thy name carries into story,
And story unto history.
