It has been 2 years. 2 long years yet it only seemed like yesterday that I met that wretched creature. Here I am now, sitting in front of yet another doctor who believes that I am still a
threat to society.
"So Verotia, does this 'Ivled' still talk to you?" his voice raised when he mentioned the Ivled, as if he is comparing its existence to those of unicorns. Tell the ol Geezer off! You can still hear me loud and clear, now can't you?
"No Doctor, I only occasionally hear him when I sleep, but never when the sun is up." I gave him a sweet smile, betraying my honesty. I desperately needed to get out of this nut bucket. Hopefully, with my good conduct and 3 months of telling the same lie, I could finally leave this cursed place.
"That's very good Verotia, I have also heard that you are taking your pills and been picking up productive hobbies that helps the community as a whole. I have no doubt that you will be released soon, keep up the good work." He wrote something down on his notepad before moving off to the next room for the next nutcase.
He doesn't believe you, ya know? Escape tonight, I'll guide you through it, if not you may forever be stuck in this hellhole!
"Ah just shut your trap," I blew at where the voice came from, not raising my own voice too loud as to not raise any suspicion from the doctors.
That night I heard voices coming from outside my room. It was a soft whisper but it seemed so familiar, like a distortion from a memory. I quietly went on my tippy toes to the door to listen on for some more.
"We're sending her to a better institution. I do not believe that she is mentally stable yet!" His voice was firm and steady, yet it was soft so that no one could hear him but those that could would understand how grave he perceives the situation to be.
"You can't do this to her! She's been here for 2 years now and she already recognized that her 'Ivled' delusion is just that, a delusion!" the second voice sounded more sinister, yet just because it was on my side, I completely disregarded the uneasy feeling I detected from the voice.
"My decision is final!" The first voice bellowed, no longer trying to conceal the fact that he was standing there having that conversation. How could they do this to me? I was their model patient, saying what needs to be said, doing what has to be done. This was outrageous, I feel betrayed. First it was that creature, that Ivled who caused me to be where I am now, then it was Mom who wouldn't believe my story and sent me to an asylum and now, the doctors who will not release me. Was there no end to this madness?
My whole life is a mess. Why me? Why was it me that discovered that stupid beast? Why can't the dumb doctor see the damn shit? Why won't Mom even consider listening to me? Why isn't there anyone to help me? Why? Why? Why!?
Almost as if the heavens heard my plea, the door slowly swung open. A lady, about my height was standing there, she had violet-reddish hair, kind of like mine. Her back was facing me, she was wearing a white jacket and a white navy cap that concealed everything else besides her hair.
"I'm here to help you escape! They won't release you, follow me!" It was the second voice, the one who rooted for me. I knew that I was doomed if I stayed here and she was the only one who wanted to help me, I had no other choice, I traced her steps as she stealthily lead me out of the building.
"Whoever you are, thank you!" I had to say it, she was the first person in 2 bloody long years who ever bothered helping me. She didn't reply, but gave a slight nod to acknowledge that she appreciates the gratitude. Once outside the building, she pointed to the woods.
"There is a shack not too far ahead, just keep heading straight. I'll be there in a few hours with supplies." The voice was so familiar, yet it was somehow twisted from my memories. I wouldn't even bother asking for her name, I just did as I was told. True enough there was a shack not too far ahead. I took a deep breath, maybe this was finally all over. Now that was something to smile about, something to genuinely smile about. So for the first time in a long time, I smiled, not one to fake sincerity but an actual smile, one that signified happiness, one that signified freedom.
The alarms were blaring loudly. The guards were marching up and down the perimeters, looking for any spots where the patient could have escape from. Nurses and orderlies were flying all over the place, checking for any other escapees.
"Doctor! It seems like a patient has escaped! I don't know how she did it, but she's long gone!" the orderly was frantically screaming, contrasting the calm doctor who was taking the news rather well.
"Who's the patient?" He questioned in a very steady tone.
"Patient number 24602. Building B, west wing. She seemed to escape into the forest." The orderly was still stumbling on some of this words due to his anxiety.

"2 years and still haven't learnt anything, now have you?" it was her, she came back. She was disguising her face with her cap as we speak. She didn't bring any resources whatsoever. "2 years and still the gullible Verotia, hehe" she started laughing, the voice was starting to sound more and more familiar, like whatever distorted memory I had was slowly coming back.

"Aww, I thought we were friends." It started laughing even harder, then turned towards me," you are really the best. 2 years coming and I still can lead you astray."

"Not even close. He was releasing you next week. Everything you heard, it was all inside your head. In other words, it was all me." It bowed down as if it wanted an applause for its wonderful performance in deceiving me.
"No worries. I'm far away now. No one can find me, no one can hurt me! Not even you. I can't be hurt if there is no one to hurt me!" I was starting to lose it, I needed to be alone, away from the harsh cruelties of this world.
"Oh dear, but unfortunately, someone tipped off the mental institute. Well then, if you plan to be isolated, I suggest you run fast. They should be here any minute now," it pretended to look down towards its non-existent watch. I could hear running footsteps coming towards me, they have found me. Once again, I have been betrayed. My whole life was a lie, built upon betrayals and deceptions. All because I was dumb enough to talk to that stupid creature in the first place.
No, I won't be put back in that crack house. It was time to end this miserable life filled with miserable lies. I went to the old wooden shack and punch it as hard as I could. My fist went straight through, even though it started to bleed. I broke off one of the loose pieces of sharp wood.
All this while, the Ivled just looked at me like one curious little imp. I took the sharp part and positioned it just below my neck. My left palm was just below it, ready to impale me at just a single push.
