Why is it I find myself on the grounds of the apes throwing their garbage at each other? But no, lo and behold no... They go to war, while I starve. They feed their tanks while I have no fuel. The enemy brings me mercy, so short and sweet are the mushrooms they feed. Over my head already I can hear the whistles of death in a toothpaste tube." He sighed into his hands heavily, trying his best to preserve what remained of his violet fingers. He could feel it building up already. Not the tensions from the countries that already burst, but the tear he held back, held back fearing it would freeze his eyes, the only thing he had left.
Heavy footsteps blasted through the walls of his alley, not one stepping in. All in a cluster of the many sirens of ambulances and shrieks of children and mothers trying to hush their children. Pounding, pounding, pounding! All he could hear from the other side of the wall he hugged. "Is there no country for old men? One where one as I may roam free, restricted only by the speed my wings could flap? I cough... I wheeze. "It's... this reminds me." He thoughts as he lay there in the cold uncaring white. "So much, it reminds me so much of how mother would comfort me as a wee one. So many... so many years." He felt some warmth, it trickled from his eyes so freely, it trickled down to warm the side of his nose, the one that could still feel. "So many years ago. I can almost see her smile in this blanket of white and warmth. Mother, please hold me. Please keep me safe. Can I ask you, the last I know for some semblance of love? May I ple-" No more words ran through his mind. The air had gripped his eyes, no longer could he see. The sirens though, he could faintly hear. No more did his gut expand, not much air was left to leave his form. "For what reason do I still live on?" this he thought, and nothing more.
