I opened the door and saw a little girl there

I could see she was hungry, so I took her to a store

She was asleep as soon as she laid down her head
The moment she fell asleep I went on ahead and took my med
Early the next morning, I awoke with a start
I went downstairs and saw something that tore my heart
The little girl was gone and she wrote a little note
As I read what she had written a lump caught in my throat
It said she had to go because she was out of time to roam
She promised that one day we would meet again at her home.
