One stormy evening on an October night I was sitting alone at my house with my two cats and my dog. At about nine o’clock that evening I hear something knocking on my door. Confused at who or what would come this late at night, I warily got up and asked “Who’s there?” The reply I got was from a little voice of a young girl. “Miss I don’t want to cause you any trouble, but I have nowhere else to go. Do you have a spare room I could stay in just for tonight? I promise I’ll leave in the morning.” Shocked by the voice I opened the door to find that a ragged blonde haired blued eyed girl stood before me. Her clothes were tattered and torn and she was muddy. “Where are your parents?” The girl looked down at her feet with a forlorn expression. “Mommy left me when I was a baby and Daddy left to find us a good home. He told me to wait for him but it started raining and I’m so cold.” My heart broke at the little girl’s words and I ushered her in. “Come on in sweetheart and let’s get you warmed up. What’s your name sweetie?” The girl cautiously came in and replied “My name is Angel.” We went to the kitchen so that I could fix her some warm tea, “Angel is a lovely name for such a beautiful girl.” I said. The girl had a seat at the table and I gave her some tea and sat across from her. We were silent for a while as we drank some tea and I decided that she would probably like a bath. I left to run some warm water in the bathtub for the girl and when I came back to the kitchen I found that she was not there. I looked throughout the house thinking maybe she went somewhere else but again I found nothing. I returned to the kitchen and on the table I saw a piece of paper and a feather. The paper read in a child’s handwriting, “Thank you for showing me human compassion. There are still wonderful people in the world. I must return to Heaven now my job on Earth is done. With much love and compassion, Angel.” I stood there in shock at what I just read. That blonde haired blue eyed mess of a girl was an angel? Amazed and slightly dazed at the night I decided to head to bed. As I was laying in my bed I looked at the feather that was left behind. It was an off white with gold laced through it. It was breathtakingly beautiful. I started to get sleepy as I looked at it and I fell asleep. I will never forget the night that I was visited by the angel girl named Angel.
